  • A Fabulous Stay

"We just spent a lovely week at Gentleman’s Vineyard with our children and grandchildren. The house, tucked away on a quiet road, was both elegant and comfortable. Phil, the owner, kindly met us when we arrived and made us feel very welcome. The large kitchen, superbly equipped, made cooking easy for our large group and there was plenty of beautifully furnished living, dining and bedroom space to spread out in. Our children and grandkids stayed in the house and my husband and I enjoyed the separate retreat overlooking the garden. We all spent a lot of time in the expansive, grassy yard bordered by the small vineyard. The kids especially loved the pool and jacuzzi. Quaint, downtown Los Olivos, walking distance from the house, offered a lot to explore both on foot and on bikes. Every evening we gathered around the table with the fire lit, music streaming and glasses of local wine to savor. It felt like we spent a week at a luxurious resort with all the comforts of home. This place is an absolute gem."

  • Great stay in Los Olivos

"Enjoyed staying in this home in Los Olivos. It is well appointed; kitchen had all the items needed to cook meals, plenty of blankets, pillows and sheets and even a ton of toiletry items in case any were forgotten. House was very clean and bedrooms were all good sized and nice. Beds were very comfortable. It's also walking distance to downtown which was awesome. Quiet area as well which was nice. Would stay again."

  • Beautiful location and a great value, but in need of some upgrades

"Note - we stayed at this property for 3 nights during an usually rainy and cold period, so our experience was likely quite different than that of most other guests. The location of the house is incredible, on a hilltop with 270 degree views. Had it not been rainy/chilly/muddy we would have loved sitting outside watching the sunset from the patio while grilling something for dinner. That said, there was a nice jacuzzi that we did get to enjoy our last night while the rain let up slightly. It was all ready when we arrived, which was great since we didn't have had to wait to jump in (except we did because our arrival coincided with a TORRENTIAL downpour and gale force winds...) The inside of the house is a bit dated, but still has all the comforts of home (except Wi-Fi). There were cozy blankets for the chilly evenings and nice new towels. The kitchen was functional, although the cookware could be a updated. And while there was salt, pepper, and coffee, there was no cooking oil, which we usually find in short term rentals. The master bedroom was large. The sheets were clean (but stained) and the king bed was okay but not as comfortable as described. My husband is 200 lbs and sunk toward the middle of the bed, although I did not. So if you are smaller it may not be an issue. The pillows were all flat, but this seems to be the case at most rentals. The MBR had a large tub and the water pressure was great on the shower head. The second bedroom had a more comfortable queen and nicer sheets, but it was rather small and difficult to navigate around the bed and there was not enough room for nightstands. The second bathroom was across the hall and a nice size, with a small standing shower. There were some thoughtful toiletries in the closet like q-tips, much appreciated. The main reason for 4 stars (besides the kitchen and bedding upgrade needs) is that the heating was very uneven which made sleeping difficult. The heat either came on full-blast or stopped, so we were alternately roasting or cold. And the bedrooms were uneven, with the MBR warmer and the second bedroom cooler, although both were on the same thermostat. This was extra difficult traveling with a child, as we worried that she was too cold in her bedroom. Hopefully most guests will not have to rely on heating as we did during the crazy weather. One last thing - the toilet paper was the thinnest cheapest kind (ouch), an easy upgrade that would make a huge difference!"
