  • Excellant vacation

"Appointments, amenities, access to owners top notch! Best rest I,be had in years. Heartily recommend. The ocean view requires mention, don,t go to the ocean with a notion of what you will find."

  • This house has it all

"My niece and I stayed 10 nights at Mar Luna, and it was wonderful. The location is perfect for morning walks along the shore and watching the surf, with or without harbor seals. The house itself is so comfy and convenient, we felt as if we were coming home each night. Pictures do not do it justice, the views from the windows are outstanding. The neighborhood is safe and friendly, and we shopped for perishables at Trader Joe's and Safeway on the way home from our many day trips. We did Big Sur 2 days, Carmel 2 days, the Aquarium of course, and the $10 fee to drive along 17 Mile Drive through the Pebble Beach Golf Course was well worth it. Pacific Grove itself is worth at least a day. The architecture is interesting, the restaurants are superb, and the downtown is pleasant and made for walking. Less trendy and touristy than Carmel. Check out Carmel Valley Roasting Company on Lighthouse Ave for their flavorful coffees. Don't miss meals at Passionfish, Fandango, La Mia Cucina, and Favaloro's Big Night Bistro. The only problem is trying to decide what to order, but whatever you choose it will be fresh and delicious. For really interesting and unique jewelry stop by Robin's Jewelry in Carmel, her items are so different, and she can customize them for you on the spot. Sunday afternoons The Cypress Inn in Carmel has live music, stop by the courtyard and hear Andrea Carter sing while you sip some wine or coffee. The whale watch trip was pretty foggy but we saw lots of whales, and I can't recommend the Elkhorn Slough Wildlife Safari in Moss Landing enough. If you want to see otters and many sea birds up close, this is your trip. The Monterey Peninsula has something for everyone, and Mar Luna is the perfect base from which to explore this beautiful area. It was not too large for just 2 people, but there would be room for a family with no problem. You can't go wrong."

  • Great vacation rental!

"The home is exactly as pictured and quite comfortable. The yard worked our great for our dog and we liked being within walking distance of the aquarium. The house was clean and having passes to the aquarium was a wonderful added perk. Owners were quick to respond to questions and included contact info at the house. Enjoyed our stay and hope to return!"

  • Golden Stay

"After 50 years of marriage, we wanted a special place to spend a week with our family. This house was definitely that special place. The setting was breathtaking with the crashing waves and great views of the ocean. The house was big enough for our two sons, their wives plus six grandchildren ranging in age from 2-21. There was something for everyone—our two year old loved the player piano; our 21 year old loved the video room and pinball machine; all of them loved the tidal pools, the hiking, the hot tub. There was plenty of room for all and we had fun cooking in the well supplied kitchen. Kirstie did a great job explaining the house at the beginning but it was good she was nearby as there was lots to remember. Bottom line is that this was a perfect place to celebrate our 50th. We are thinking of another celebration there sooner than another 50 years."
