  • Perfect beach condo

"We stayed here in early September and could not be happier about our trip. The use of space at this place is perfect. The living room can seat maybe 8 people comfortably, also has two pullouts for extra beds. I love how the place is decorated simply and beautifully - no clutter to stress about. The bathroom looks like it was update recently with cute beach themed tiles. You can hear the waves if you sleep with the windows open. In addition to the beach and the cute town, you are also super close to the bluffs and the salt marsh if you want to enjoy even more scenic beauty!"

  • Serene Escape

"We were in SB recently for a week to attend a family funeral and such events are never highly anticipated "fun getaways". I very much needed a home like setting, rather than a cold and impersonal hotel - a quiet sanctuary to escape to daily, a warm environment where family could gather in comfort, serenity, peace and relaxation. We were so fortunate to find Ed and Joan's home. It's ideally placed just at the edge of Summerland and feels so tucked away and private yet easily accessible to downtown Summerland, Carpinteria, Montecito and a short skip to Santa Barbara as well as the beach. The home sits in a quiet neighborhood, set back from the street and surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens, a gorgeous pool and several retreat areas with ample seating and lounging opportunities providing a welcome escape every day. Stop at the Trader Joe's in SB on your way, pull-up, unpack, and unwind. We slept comfortably every night in the sumptuous beds and cooked at home daily finding everything we needed including an outdoor grill and comfortable dining areas inside and out. The backyard is truly a tranquil paradise where one could spend all day long swimming, sunning, lounging, and resting. This home could function in so many ways; a romantic getaway for two, couples escape, girlfriends weekend for three or more, writer's retreat, or as a homebase for friends and family wanting to explore and adventure in the region. The interior with two fireplaces and gathering areas would be just as cozy in the cooler winter months. The owners were very respectful of our privacy, flexible, and extremely responsive to every need or question. I wish our stay had been under more pleasant circumstances but grateful we were able to find a real home that provided genuine comfort for friends and family during a trying time."

  • A proper beach cottage, not a palace ... just my preference

"Everything was great! While a few minor problems cropped up (eg, BBQ suffered from operator error), they were fixed promptly. The ocean is immediately beyond the seawall while the RR track is just behind the "guest house" After a few days I didn't notice RR noise (sad, as I love trains ... about 12 short, quiet passenger trains and 1-2 long freights/day). I had lots of guests who all loved the ambiance. Notable events ... the Rey fire caused 2pm "sunset" for a couple days ... many dolphins everyday (even spotted them surfing), not many brown pelicans this year ... saw some small (harmless) sand sharks at Sand Point (beyond the Castle) where Santa Monica Creek meets the ocean. Nice to have weekly cleaning and garden maintenance. Padaro Beach has been my go-to vacation for 50 years now! A few dogs on beach (retrievers) but not sure if OK with owner, so I did not hit check box. Disabilities OK for guest house but not main house, so mixed on whether to check the box. One could argue that OK for teenagers (volleyball, (mild, learning) surfing, paddleboards)"

  • Nice location!

"We booked a week for relaxation. We appreciated the parking spot since street parking is challenging and we mostly left the car parked. Unit is close to the wharf and shuttle (great way to get around). The apartment was cute, clean, and well-furnished (although I would have liked better lighting for reading). The balcony was spacious and great for lounging, reading, or just looking around. Unfortunately, we never could connect to the internet during our week's stay (did use Sambos!). The deposit was returned fairly quickly."
