  • Better than I could have imagined

"The pictures just do not do justice for how beautiful and perfect this view is. The front and inside of the house has a welcoming cottage feel that made me feel at home. The backyard just leaves me speechless. A luscious green lawn that sets the picture for the unobstructed ocean views. We're from San Diego so the ocean is nothing new, but we literally spent hours sitting in the backyard enjoying the view. We saw tons of dolphins and a whale on our last day. I highly recommend this home as a perfect vacation spot to get away. The owner of this home is friendly and easy to work with as well. A wonderful experience overall and I'm already dreaming of coming back. Well worth it."

  • Perfect Family Vacation Cottage

"I wish I could give this cottage more than 5 Stars. It was immaculately clean and had absolutely everything you would need in a home including multiple ice cream scoops, reusable shopping bags to take to the grocery store, a complete kit in a bucket with all personal supplies in case you found yourself with beach tar on your feet (didn't need to use, but it was great that it was there just in case), beach umbrellas and chairs, and much more. The washer and dryer was a lifesaver when traveling with young children and it was wonderful to be able to wash our clothes after days at the beach. The location could not have been better. Just a few minutes walk to East Beach, which is very family friendly and has a indoor/outdoor casual grill counter service restaurant with a patio that you can visit while you are at the beach for breakfast, lunch, snacks, drinks or soft serve ice cream. We were able to walk to the Santa Barbara Zoo which is very close. Maybe a 5-10 minute walk at my 4 year old's pace. Great benefit as the zoo parking lot was full and parking was hard to come by. It is also about a 10 minute walk to a nice playground and an antique carousel and a little farther down is the Santa Barbara Wharf with restaurants, ice cream shops, a marine center/museum and more. We took advantage of the surrey rentals and enjoyed the Santa Barbara bike path that runs for miles along the shore. We kept ourselves busy for days at a time without needing to drive a car as so much is within walking distance. All of the rooms were very comfortable and even during a heat wave, we had nice ocean breezes with the windows open and ceiling fans on. The backyard patio is wonderful for enjoying lunch or ice cream outside, playing ping pong in the converted garage rec room or just enjoying the peaceful evening outside in a lounge chair. The owner, Betsy was very pleasant to work with and she was just a text away for any question we had. She went out of her way to check on us to see if we needed any extra fans as we were experiencing a heat wave and gave us great suggestions for restaurants and points of interest. The location is ideal. The cottage is spotless, stylish and comfortable. Great choice for a family vacation."

  • Enjoyable stay

"My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay at our hosts home. The location and the property was lovely and the views great. Our host provided a nice welcome with directions and information on how best to get around, great places to eat, and local events. The property was clean and well maintained and just far enough out of town to be to feel rural. We had a great time and would stay again. Greg and Susie Zimmerman Fairbanks, Alaska"

  • Perfect place for 70th Birthday Celebration

"The Casita was the perfect place to spend a week exploring the Santa Barbara area for my husband's 70th Birthday. The description and excellent reviews which made me choose this property were accurate and very helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom luxurious. We cooked 5 of the 7 nights and Mary and Tom had everything one might need or use in the very well furnished kitchen. It was nice to have fresh cold filtered water in the refrigerator and 2 fans going when we arrived on a very hot day. There are windows all around the apartment, so a nice breeze came in every night and we were quite comfortable during the unusual hot spell. The sitting area was a cozy place to read or watch TV (which we didn't, but I assume it worked just fine). We also appreciated the double bed lights so that we could read in bed. We did not take advantage of the garden area, but It looked inviting for a quiet read or visit. The location is awesome - near everything, in a very nice neighborhood, with wonderful views from every window! We will definitely recommend this guest casita to anyone we know who plans to visit Santa Barbara. We had come prepared with a list of things to do and see, but did appreciate all the information that Mary and Tom provided on the sights, activities, restaurants, etc. If you have time, be sure to check out the Botanical Gardens, the Channel Islands for hiking, La Purisima Mission in Lompoc, Solvang (we enjoyed the outdoor theater), and of course, all the town sights. And if you like Traditional Irish Music and are there on a Thursday night, go to Dargans. We had a great time, enjoyed the beer, didn't think too much of the food, but we were there for the music which was wonderful! And finally, if/when we go back to Santa Barbara, the Casita would be our first choice of a place to stay."
