  • Almost In The Ocean

"We stayed here for a week in late February. You can't get any closer to the ocean without being in it; in fact at high tide the waves sometimes splash on the windows. It was great hearing the waves while in bed. The setting faces south so there is sun and warmth all day. Santa Barbara is about 20 minutes away, Carpinteria even closer. The house is charmingly funky, and large enough for a small family. Wifi is very good. The only issues are with the electrical and plumbing. The lighting in both rooms on the ocean side is on the same switch, so at night it is difficult to use one without the other. The plumbing needs to be upgraded, especially the shower and the kitchen sink. These issues notwithstanding, it was a very fun place to stay."

  • Great family vacation

"We enjoyed the house and the location. It was everything we needed for our family and very close to the sand. It was clean and ready for us on time. We really loved the keyless entry and the child safety features. It's a shame that the neighbors are building now and the views are less spectacular, but that wasn't a major issue for us, just a bit of a surprise. There were plenty of places to sleep and lots of seating for meals and games. The hot tub was lovely and easily accessed. The kitchen was well equipped although the pantry, refrigerator and freezer had a lot of food stored in them, making it challenging to put away our groceries. We enjoy the area and visited many of the local hotspots including the farmers' market, marina, bike path, marina park, Channel Islands Visitor Center, and several local restaurants. We made one trip to nearby Santa Barbara. The only real downside was the 9:00 am check out time. That was difficult for us. I would definitely recommend the house to friends."

  • Top notch beach rental

"I have rented VRBO houses in many places, including many in Hawaii. This house was, hands down, the best. Everything that you need for a great vacation is there. The owners thought of everything. I jokingly called it the OCD house because everything was easy to find and labeled nicely. The house was more beautiful than the pics. My girlfriends and I walked around in awe. I will definitely be coming back to this place. Great for families, or several couples, or even a geoup of gals running a half-marathon. YOU WILL NOT REGRET RENTING THIS PLACE!!!!!"

  • Don & Anita

"Thank you for another wonderful experience. This place is nothing short of fabulous. If I could put the experience in a bottle and sell it, I would be rich!!! My parents had a "Beach Cottage" here when I grew up and so I understand what it is like. The previous comment is really out to lunch. The temperature in Ventura is usually 75 degrees year around. It is considered hot here when it is in the 80's and having a sweatshirt for the evenings in the summer is common. Winters are also very mild but there was a cold wave during January so they probably had to deal with an unusual situation. Screens on the windows are nice, but at the beach they oxidize really fast as does most things and you would be changing them often. The salt water tears things up. The house was built a while ago and not much has been done to update, but everything is clean and the owners are easy to work with. It's all about the location. Surfer's out front, Dolphins and sea lions swim by, and you can't get any closer to the water. At high tide I can fish from the front porch, and at low tide we hunt for tide pool animals. The kids love it. If you have high blood pressure here, you are really sick! Anyway, thanks for letting us use your little piece of paradise and we hope to be back soon. :-)"
