  • Flexible, lovely and super location

"We were 2 couples and 2 men, all 6 associated with a singing group. Each couple had double bed and a private bathroom, although the one with the king bed is en suite and the other is in the adjacent hall, and tends to become the "open bathroom" for people mingling downstairs. The 2 men slept on single beds in the loft with their own bathroom. The place handled us fabulously and Debbie was great. Her information was accurate, timely and friendly. The place was spotless. The kitchen was excellent. The high ceilings and large windows gave us lots of light. The ocean was 2 blocks away and the park with a great seaside trail only 8 blocks away. We occasionally walked to downtown which was a hilly but pleasant 1.5 mile jaunt along the road. There did not seem to be any good pathways to town. Only drawback is no cellphone reception but Debbie gives you a landline with unlimited calling."

  • This property really lives up to the description!

"We rented this property for our family as one of our daughter's wedding took place in the Carmel Valley. It's gated location near the top of the mountain in a cul-de-sac made us feel safe and comfortable. The property was maintained well and spacious and as the description states, 'Spectacular views' are exactly that!! The kitchen is amazing and has everything you need to prepare a multi-course meal if you choose or simple dishes. The appliances are top notch. Ron(the owner) called me personally and he is very nice. He was 'spot-on' that I would really enjoy the house and it's surroundings. I would highly recommend this property to a friend or relative in a heartbeat! Thanks Ron! I'll be back"

  • Best of Both Worlds

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Valley View home. We arrived during a chilly November rain and, having forgotten to bring umbrellas, were pleased to pull into a carport and get all our luggage into the house protected by an overhang all the way to the front door. We walked in and immediately saw the beautiful round deck and breathtaking view of a redwood forest. We both said WOW as we opened the door. The design of the house is so clever, taking full advantage of the amazing valley view and creating a comfortable living arrangement. The kitchen in the round is especially interesting architecturally. The house was clean and spacious and the heating system warmed it up very quickly. We spent the next several days relaxing in the mornings with our coffee and tea and having a soak in the hot tub (after the first day, we had great weather), then going off to explore. There are several beautiful beaches just a short drive away, and we drove to Half Moon Bay one day along scenic route 1 which only took 1 hour each way. There are some good restaurants in Scotts Valley, and some great ones in Santa Cruz and Capitola. Both Santa Cruz and Capitola are fun towns for exploring and shopping. The property manager for Valley View was available by phone when we had a question, though once we got settled there was no need to call. It was the best of both worlds - a quiet, private, cozy home in the redwood forest and a short drive from everything we needed and fun things to do. We've stayed in several VRBOs and this was, by far, our favorite and most special so far. Perfect for a romantic getaway. We hope to be back."

  • Perfect place to unwind

"The cottage is a very comfortable place for a couple. It is detached from the house and very private. The kitchen had everything we needed. We welcomed the opportunity to prepare our meals, since we were there for 5 days. The hot tub is perfectly located outside the cottage. There are several outdoor seating areas for relaxing. Beautifully designed bathroom. Jae and Bob are very gracious hosts. For those of you who are light sleepers, you may hear morning traffic during peak commute hours, since the cottage backs up to Carmel Valley Road. We would definitely stay there again."
