"Rancho Loco is an amazing oasis in the desert! My family of three went with another family of four over a long weekend and had such a great time here. It’s not too far from Los Angeles where we live, just a little further than Palm Springs. First off, it’s located a few minutes north of the town of Joshua Tree. We brought a cooler of food, but if you need anything there's a Walmart and other grocery options about 13 mins away on the 62. There’s also some small shops and restaurants (Crossroads Cafe yum!), and the National Park entrance is right around the corner. (The National Park is definitely not to be missed if you visit—just bring lots of water!) Back to the Rancho Loco—The property is very large and very private as the nearest neighbor is far off in the distance. The main house has the kitchen (stove/oven, small microwave, regular sized fridge, coffeemaker, etc), and large open family room which includes dining area with a big table that would seat at least 10-12. The rest of the family room is quite a comfortable place to hang out and talk, play games, etc. There’s lots of windows and lots of light coming in, and you can enjoy the beautiful desert and and mountain views. There’s a main bedroom which we didn’t stay in but had two beds (a queen and a futon) and a bathroom. Across the side is the guest house, which looks like a converted small barn. There’s a loft with a queen bed, and downstairs a picnic table, living area and single sofa beds. There’s a door which takes you to the laundry room and bathroom. There’s a small refrigerator in there too. It must be said that both houses on the property are both utilitarian and neatly designed. You can tell the owners have put a lot of love into this place. Swamp coolers and fans did a fine cooling job in both houses in 100 degree heat. Everybody was very comfortable. In between the houses is the pool area. They have a salt water pool which is so refreshing. There’s a nice seating area under shade too, and you can put music on the stereo system in the main house and listen outside, which was a really nice touch. There’s also a grill you can use. Then you realize as you watch the sun setting behind the purple mountains, with a beer in the hand, friends and family on your side, that Rancho Loco is a special place, and you wish the weekend wouldn’t end."
