  • WONDERFUL and BEAUTIFUL

"Our family of four (2 adults, 2 kids) spent almost two months in the unit above this one (owned by the same owners). It was absolutely wonderful. The 2 bedroom/2 bath condo was the perfect size and the perfect location. From the living area and one of the bedrooms you have a beautiful view of the ocean across the street. Each room is clean, well decorated and both are a great size. Our family loved spending time in the pool and the hot tub. It is a very clean pool area with lots of lounge chairs. The condo location is only a few steps from the pool. Parking was never a problem at this location which was a plus for us. Right across the street is a view of Strands Beach with a great walkway. There are steps down to the beautiful beach (which provided great exercise and led to a long stretch of sand). Perhaps one of our favorite things to do each evening , was to watch the sunset from the condo. It was beautiful. Although we live fairly locally, we had not visited Dana Point often. The condo is only a few minutes from the Harbor and great restaurants, and we enjoyed exploring some of the local places to eat. Our family did not want our stay to end. Even greater than the wonderful accommodations, was the prompt response and interaction with the owners. From the moment we inquired about renting one of their units, they were attentive to our questions, provided great information, and worked with us to make our time in Dana Point extra special. We have used VRBO multiple times, and these owners are the best!"

  • Relaxing birthday weekend

"I booked Sea Myst for 3 nights for my 60th birthday with my wife. The home is rustic yet reasonably comfortable, tidy, well provisioned and tastefully decorated. The hot tub, and heating work well and the master bedroom bed is very comfortable with the hi quality linens making crawling in wonderful. We felt that the Master BR flat screen is too far from the bed for comfortable viewing and could just as easily be mounted in a fold down on the middle beam at the foot of the bed. However there is a huge new screen in the LR. We ended up watching films (good wifi signal only got wacky during the peak of the storm) on the laptop. We arrived on the first really cold rainy weekend, and discovered there was no wood for the fireplace and the top oven was inoperative requiring the birthday cake to go in the lower oven which didn't reach proper heat and took 2 hours to bake coming out like hard biscotti. From talking to the owner upon discovering this, he explained that the kitchen was original 1972 and a remodel was coming. Both would have been important to know going in as our intent was not to move the car once we parked until we left so I didn't drive out to get firewood or find a repairman for the oven. Luckily we brought a bunch of chinese takeout that lasted us the entire time. The second BR in one side of a converted garage and is best suited for responsible children who you won't mind sharing your bathtub with as it only has a half bath adjacent to it. It would be somewhat awkward for two adult couples, I think. Be careful with the locks on the second BR because they could get locked in. That could be a safety hazard if someone can't get out. The location is the best feature of Sea Myst. Walking to the beach and bluffs is at the end of the street and was our main reason for selecting it. The owners have plenty of amenities, rain coats, bikes, games, umbrellas flashlights and extensive library of books. It was fun looking at Scientific American issues from 1964 in the cozy loft. Although the LR couch sectional is new it isn't the kind of piece that was easy to sink into cozily with a book and a beverage for an afternoon. It was hard to feel really comfortable on it. Overall the time went by way too fast. With an updated and fully functional kitchen and attention to the change in the seasons this place would rate five stars."

  • Location Location location

"OMG!!! This place was awesome. First, everything was so clean and beautiful. The living room was like new and very comfortable, I felt like I was home. There is plenty of closet space and the bed was so comfortable and I enjoyed my sleep after a long day of hiking. The kitchen was large with a roomy eating area. My overall experience was great. The location was so close to the beach (a few houses away) and I could walk to my daughter's house. It was very convenient to stay here instead of a hotel. I really felt relaxed and enjoyed the backyard with the beautiful flowers. Location is everything and this place has it. I can't wait to plan my stay here again. Thank you so much!"

  • Nice place

"Attractive home, clean, nicely decorated and up-to-date as stated. Lots of hot water for showering and baths. We loved that we could bring our two labs and the open forest was two short blocks away to let them run. The heat comes from two wall units. We were always toasty warm in the whole house but the one wall unit is on the other side of the master bedroom wall behind the bed and there is a low thrum in the wall when it turns on. The bed was better in one of the smaller bedrooms anyway so we switched. The lock box instructions were incorrect but the manager responded in minutes via text with the correct information."
