  • Fantastic cabin in the woods!

"We spent a week in the Lazy Bear Lodge with our three daughters and had a fabulous week. The cabin had everything we could have asked for. Air conditioning was a must during the hot summer and it worked very well. The kitchen is fully equipped, beds comfortable, plenty of toys for the kids and a lovely deck with comfy outdoor furniture. The bathrooms are spacious enough, clean and have good water pressure in the shower. We all enjoyed the streaming Netflix and Pandora as well. We spent time at the recreation center (a 5 minute drive), Big Trees Park, Murphys and Lake Alpine. Communication with the owners was excellent and they were quick to answer any questions prior to and during our stay. Highly recommended!"

  • Beautiful upgraded and fully furnished condo for the family

"Our family of 5 (2 adults & 3 kids ages 11, 9 & 3 mos) had a very enjoyable time at unit 305 in September. There's a parking garage and elevator that takes you right to the condo. Upon entering, the place is beautiful and fully stocked with all you will need and then some. Great for children of all ages, from the plates and cups to games, toys, movies, and bunk beds, too. The condo is spacious enough for a couple families if needed. I can't wait to return when it's snowing. I'm sure it will be a beautiful view with the tall trees all around. I must mention the communication between Richard were great and very helpful. They have definitely made their condo welcoming and a place to want to return. Thanks so much!!!"

  • Warm and cozy home, just watch out for the ants!

"Bears Lair was a warm and cozy home for our family's vacation. My young daughter loved the numerous stuffed bears spread throughout the home. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the necessary pots/pans/utensils, which was great. However, we encountered some carpenter ants in the kitchen. A call to the rental company didn't result in any action being taken during our visit. We enjoyed using the facilities at the nearby Blue Lake Club (included in rental) during our stay. Please note that the zip-line has been taken down; apparently PG&E cut down the trees used for the zip-line. Overall, a good stay but would have liked to have seen our concerned addressed in a timely manner."

  • Wonderful cabin in a winter wonderland

"Our family (with two kids, 6 and 8 years old) had an amazing time there last weekend. The cabin was perfect -- warm and cozy, with sweet, personal touches throughout, and stocked with an assortment of kids books and games. We were surrounded by an incredible sea of white and woke up on our first morning to the magical sight of more snow falling. Our girls spent hours making snow people, digging snow caves, sledding down the road, making snow angels, and eating snow :-). Except for the occasional snow mobile passing, the quiet surrounding the cabin was undisturbed. The nearby forests and fields were perfect for snow-shoeing and exploring. And it was a quick 10-minute walk down to the Bear Valley Cross-Country Center. We loved not having to drive the entire time we were there! Ryan, the owner, was wonderful -- friendly and extremely prompt in his email responses, and he made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay at the cabin truly wonderful. Thank you, Ryan! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect experience."
