  • The Hurt was grand, we had such a good time.

"Jeanette was such a gracious hostess. Made us feel welcomed and cared for. Her dog 'Corky' was a welcome guest each morning ,he was so happy maybe it was the dog biscuits! Jeanette worked with us when we had a family picnic on the lawn by the Alpaca fenced area. She and Micheal set up the picnic table shrouded with a beautiful tablecloth. My wife and I will consider staying at this place next time we book a trip to Grass Valley. Thank-you so much for the great service."

  • Perfect Cabin Retreat

"We had a fabulously relaxing couple of days here. First off, the place itself is dog friendly, which was perfect for us and our precious furballs, as we were all in need of a short break from city life. But you'd never know it was dog friendly accommodation because it's clean as a whistle, with no doggy smell or dander. What it is is a quintessential cozy log cabin, equipped with a fully stocked kitchen and gas fireplace, plus a well circulated central heating for those oh so cold sierra nights. As an added bonus the owners have wisely equipped it with wifi and a TV service that links you to all your favorite apps, like Hulu and Netflix. You'll find that the immediate walking area is not much to brag about, with really no where to walk to and nothing much to see when you got there, but SERIOUSLY, once we were curled up in the cabin with a fire, a good movie and some succulent local wine, the rest of the world just dropped away. When we managed to rouse ourselves from our lazy mornings of coffee, light work and a good book, we all (us and the dogs) jumped in the car and spent hours hiking, touring the historical gold mines, window shopping, and eating our way through the local cuisine. 20 minutes from downtown Grass Valley, another 5 to Nevada City and only 10-30 minutes in any direction from a huge array of stunning vistas, tours and trails. To top it all off, owner, Shawn, was an absolute joy to work with from beginning to end, even allowing us to add an extra night last minute and giving us the green light for an extra late check out. The whole process and place was easy and stress free which really helped us shake off some strain of the last several months. Very therapeutic. Thanks Shawn & Shawn's Lovely Log Cabin!"

  • Great space

"We spent 4 nights at the house (1 couple and 4 singles) and enjoyed it very much. The house is clean and spacious, even with people sleeping on sofas we never felt crowded. The back yard is a huge selling point, we spent time in the pool, cooking out and enjoying the sun. Inside, it was easy to hang together around the dining table or in the living rooms. Also plenty of bathrooms which is often a challenge when you are a group. We all commented on how quiet the area was too, even though there are plenty of houses around. We spent most of our time at the restaurants and bars in Nevada City when we weren't at the house (<10m drive). Supermarket 5 min away. Also took advantage of swimming holes at the Yuba River 15 mins away. The hosts are also really attentive and a pleasure to deal with. Couldn't recommend highly enough."
