  • Family fun

"We spent MLK weekend with extended family and friends, some skiers, some non-skiers, ranging in age from 18mo to 50+ and every one of us had a phenomenal time! The house is perfect for lounging, entertaining, enjoying all the mountain has to offer, even if just sitting inside taking in the view. My 5yr old was crying as we left saying he was so sad our weekend at this beautiful mountain home was over. That said it all! We'll be back...."

  • Awesome location

"This condo was great! It had everything we needed for cooking and enjoying meals in for our party of 7. The condo is more spacious than it looks and the third bathroom was appreciated. The bedroom were very comfortable and roomy. The owners are the best -- I can't say enough good things about them. They responded to all my questions and are very nice. The lifts are amazingly close! The Kirkwood staff we encountered around the property was extremely friendly as well. We ate lunch downstairs at The 7800 and everyone enjoyed their meals (and pints!)."

  • Awesome experience

"My son and new daughter in law were married in August at the hideout. It was an exceptional experience on all fronts. I had visited the site a couple of times in advance so I was aware of its distinctive mountain beauty and the friendliness of the owners, BJ and Tom. Despite this, the overall experience was well beyond my expectations. Some highlights: - the weather was perfect - Tom and BJ and Dusty were there to ensure that everything went well throughout the three day period. The trick was they were not intrusive; but little things like setting up the campfire after dinner were great. - the facilities were even nicer that I expected after a couple of advance visits. This is clearly a labor of love for the owners and their attention to detail is clearly evident through the main house and saloon in particular. - we used most of the amenities including swimming in the pond, partying in the hot tub and camping and RVing in the camping area. All went off without a hitch. - and their set up for the wedding itself is idealic. If you are looking for a nontraditional wedding site with some adventure, I can not recommend this highly enough. Check it out; but do so well in advance. By the way, there is no curfew ..."

  • Amazing cabin in a hikers paradise!

"I took my family of 4 to this amazing cabin for the 4th of July weekend. We had a wonderful time exploring the area. This area is most known for its ski resort, however, I think it is one of the best hiking areas around northern California. Within 5 minutes you are a the start of many beautiful hikes. We hiked to Lake Margaret and Emigrant Lake via Caples Lake. The hikes were challenging but well worth the payoff in the end with the amazing, clear, alpine lakes. Having the cabin was great to unwind at the end of the day. It was well appointed with everything you need. The owner, Laura, was very sweet and always available for questions. I highly recommend this cabin for your next summer adventure!"
