  • Big house for large groups; lots of comfortable sleeping, room to play

"The Jolly tar house was place that kept going on and on. Lots of bedrooms with individual sleeping areas and no need to worry about pull-out beds in the middle of living areas. The costume area was fun for the little girl that went with us. Very convenient to grocery stores and fast food, if desired. However, there are great restaurants in Murphy's, wineries and a lot more. Diane has everything you need for a great stay."

  • Quick weekend with the kids

"This home was perfect for a quick weekend away with the kids. The view was amazing from the decks and the pool was fantastic. We also enjoyed the access to the river. The home itself is comfortable. The beds were really nice, but keep in mind it is clearly someone's home (or weekend home) not a full time vacation rental. Expect food in the kitchen cabinets, clothes in the drawers etc. Not a problem for us at all, but different from some houses we've rented. The online pictures and other reviews paint a very accurate picture of what you're getting. If you are planning to spend most of your time outside , you really can't beat it."

  • Location, location, location -- perhaps the best spot in the best cove at the lake.

"Loved the location for the 180+-degrees lake views, meals on the deck, plenty of dock space for our boat, kayak, paddle boards and other toys, and how it's just off the main lake's 5 mph buoys for near-immediate access to skiing and boarding or to the slow channel for long paddles. Plus it's about halfway between both ends of the lake so it's easy to go left if you're out for sport or to the right if it's dinner-cruising or nighttime star-gazing. Also was a great location for trips away from the lake like to Murphys for dinner and wine-tasting, or even Calaveras Big Trees, Alpine Lake, Yosemite or other great hiking destinations. The house is casual and functional, and a very flexible setup if you'll be having friends and family in and out for visits during your stay. Host responds promptly to any questions or needs."

  • Fabulous get together with old friends

"A terrific destination for food and wine lovers. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, and has a large commercial range. The common areas can handle a crowd in comfort. Murphys and the surrounding area are beautiful and have an interesting history. Jonathan and Jeanine are gracious and fun!"
