  • Slammed by a big winter storm

"Timing was not good, but then good. Got to our unit when the big snow storm hit creating 3-5 feet of snow to 48 hours. Wind and heavy snow keep us from skiing. Enjoyed our unit since we were somewhat snow bound. Glad we went to grocery store before it started. The accommodations were perfect for the 4 of us. Had a one day window to leave before the next storm. With all the snow, people might be able to ski into August!!"

  • The Snow Cave

"The condo was very comfortable. We appreciated that it's decor has recently been updated and is very attractively done. The pellet stove kept the unit very comfortable. We had some trouble initially getting it to work properly, but were able to reach the owner quickly and he talked me through the reset procedure over the phone and then it worked perfectly after that. I titled this review, The Snow Cave, because that is how it felt to be in a ground floor unit during record snow fall. The snow level is at the top of each window in the unit and the deck, where there is a storage bin with bags of wood pellets for the stove and shovels, is inaccessable because it is completely buried in snow. Obviously, the owner has no control over the weather, however the property management did little to mitigate the snow issues outside of the unit while we were there. We had great difficulty managing to park 2 cars because of all the snow and while we saw a snow plow on a couple of occassions, the clearing of snow was minimal and haphazard. After 3 days of record snowfall, we opened the unit front door to find ourselves literally buried in the unit. I called the owner, Chris, and he called the property manager for us, but we never had contact with the property manager. We dug ourselves out of the unit with a backcountry shovel which my son had happened to bring into the condo with him when he arrived and a snow saucer which was by the front door. In spite of the snow difficulties, I would stay in the unit again. It is well decorated and well stocked and was very comfortable. It also has a good location, close to Canyon Lodge, about a 1/2 mile walk and is about 1 mile from the Village. (We walked both distances in heavy snow). Also, the owners, Chris and Eileen, were very accessible and as helpful as possible considering the challenges of such a severe snow storm. We never lost heat or power, so that was a blessing. I would have given the unit a 5 star rating except for the seeming lack of concern about residents issues of dealing with so much snow by the property management."
