  • Awesome experience

"My son and new daughter in law were married in August at the hideout. It was an exceptional experience on all fronts. I had visited the site a couple of times in advance so I was aware of its distinctive mountain beauty and the friendliness of the owners, BJ and Tom. Despite this, the overall experience was well beyond my expectations. Some highlights: - the weather was perfect - Tom and BJ and Dusty were there to ensure that everything went well throughout the three day period. The trick was they were not intrusive; but little things like setting up the campfire after dinner were great. - the facilities were even nicer that I expected after a couple of advance visits. This is clearly a labor of love for the owners and their attention to detail is clearly evident through the main house and saloon in particular. - we used most of the amenities including swimming in the pond, partying in the hot tub and camping and RVing in the camping area. All went off without a hitch. - and their set up for the wedding itself is idealic. If you are looking for a nontraditional wedding site with some adventure, I can not recommend this highly enough. Check it out; but do so well in advance. By the way, there is no curfew ..."

  • Lovely vacation home

"Thomas's cabin is so comfortable, beautiful, and spacious. We stayed there with 5 adults and 4 teenage boys, and had a great time. The layout is wonderful, allowing everyone to gather easily in one space, or to find their own space, with plenty of privacy. The game room is amazing, with a pool table, foozball, air hockey, darts, and poker. Thomas is an attentive host, returning a phone call within a minute when we had a question. The furnishings are lovely, the beds comfortable, the linens luxurious. And the price is lower than most similar accommodations elsewhere. We had a delightful time at Silver Lake Reservoir (about 30 miles away) one day, and on another day, some of our group hiked from there to two other beautiful lakes, that are only accessible by foot, and they had an amazing time. The grill on the deck is wonderful. I would recommend this vacation home to anyone. Thanks, Thomas!!"

  • Our third year here for our annual women's retreat - perfect in every way!

"We have returned now 3 years in a row to this magical spot. It is perfect for a quiet hideaway. The owners have thought of everything to make their guest's stay absolutely perfect in every way. Their home is comfortable & has every modern appliance. They have thought of everything to make the guest feel like they have just entered their own homes. Each year there are more thoughtful additions. Come, relax, enjoy & use it as a base for the area's fabulous activities! We come for a women's retreat, take hikes, cook great meals & relax."

  • A fantastic time in a impeccable cabin

"This is our second summer time trip to Bear Valley, and our second visit to this beautiful cabin. It is perfectly situated about a mile up from the store / music festival tent. An easy walk, and a lovely one. The lake is about 5 minutes away and easily swimmable (cold, but my 5 and 8 year olds adored it each afternoon we were there). As to the cabin itself: the kitchen is spacious, the beds and couch comfortable, the deck perfectly situated for afternoon breezes and the views from the multitude of windows delightful. The internet is slower than you are probably used to, so if you need to do internet related work while there be prepared for long up/download times. That is literally the only less than perfect thing about the place, if you aren't doing video editing or MMORPG gaming you will never notice it."
