  • Felt Like Home

"All of us were very pleased with everything. The view is spectacular, unfortunately we were not there for the sunsets as we were at a seminar and the days were full from sun up to sundown. All needs were supplied and all slept well. Great to have internet! If we ever need to stay in the Placerville area again we will definitely return to the Gold Country Deck House."

  • Quiet relaxing weekend

"Had a wonderful quiet and relaxing weekend at the Chalet. Jenkinson Lake is about 10 mins away. It cost $11 to park at the lake for the day. We rented 2 paddle boards at the lake for 4 hours (cost of $50 each). They only have 3 paddle boards to rent so get there right when they open at 9:30 am if you really want a paddle board. You can also rent kayaks, and canoes. Did some nice star gazing back at the house from the deck at night. We would have spent more time hanging out on the great wrap around deck except that there were a good amount of bees hanging around. I would definitely stay here again."

  • Family fun on every level! Beautiful surroundings, so clean, and lots of space for all!

"My husband and I stayed here with our grandchildren and their parents during a terrific heat wave, but the home stayed remarkably comfortable and cool thanks to the A/C. The beds are so amazingly comfortable that the 2 teenagers even remarked that they wished they had the same at home. We slept like babies, especially because we were out all day at Jenkinson Lake and the pool/clubhouse areas with family members who live in the area. Lots of games and puzzles at the house and the two levels really accommodate multiple families so well! A great home to experience the woods and lake with family. The kitchen is well stocked and plenty of space to enjoy family meals together or to spread out and eat separately. The property is extremely private and somewhat more remote than I expected. Very quiet and serene. The younger children loved the slide/"treehouse" area. This was an absolutely delightful and memorable family getaway that we hope to repeat this winter with snow fun. Cell service was patchy, but internet worked fine if somewhat slow. The house is very clean and the atmosphere is so warm and cozy. Couldn't ask for more!"

  • Perfect get-away

"We wanted to take the family to the snow in the Tahoe area for President's weekend but could not find a house to rent! We stumbled across A Mountain Rose and it turned out to be a perfect get away. The house was well equipped with everything we needed and Catherine was a very responsive and caring host. We were 45 minutes away from Sierra at Tahoe and rented skis on the way up at Strawberry which saved us time and money. It was a breeze to return to Pollock Pines after skiing as cars returning to the Tahoe area from Sierra at Tahoe took 2 hours for that return trip. The ping pong table in the garage was a huge hit for my teens! We would be happy to repeat our trip and try out the summer activities as well. Thank you to Catherine for a lovely stay!"
