  • Best House We've Ever Stayed In!

"My husband, 12 year old son, and I stayed here for a week. It was probably the most peaceful time I’ve spent in decades. There were days when the only sound we heard were birds singing, the puffs of breath coming from the horses below the back deck, and the cold creek water rushing over the rocks. The house itself was spotless and cleaned with unscented nontoxic cleaners for those of you who despise walking into a bleach-cleaned house with a cloying chemical plug-in. I’ve stayed in many VRBOs and Airbnbs and have never seen such a well-stocked kitchen with REAL quality pots and pans. Not the cheap stuff they usually have. The house was recently built and designed so that, even on the hottest days, air travels through the windows in a self-cooling fashion. All aspects of the house took green/eco to a whole new level. We compost at home and were very happy to be able to do the same here. And we aren’t really dog people, at least not until we met Dalila! She’s a real character and just as promised in the description of the house, she was the first one to greet us upon arrival. After hanging out with her a week, we were trying to figure out how to sneak her into our car at checkout. James took us on a great tour of the extensive property and filled us in on all aspects of the land. He was so kind to our son and a delight to talk to about a wide range of topics. The things we loved about this house could go on for several paragraphs — the piano in the living room, the beautiful quilt on one of the beds, the art, watching the sun set on the huge back deck, hiking to a swimming hole, watching shooting stars. There are just too many things to mention! We were very sad to leave and can’t wait to come back."

  • Wonderful cabin, great location!

"We stayed there for a couple days in June 2016. Amazing attention to detail in all the features of the cabin. It feels very luxurious and the views are incredible. There is plenty of space to relax and make you feel at home. The hummingbirds were fun to watch in the late afternoon. It's just a short drive to Sequoia National Park. Vince is a very gracious host and made sure we had everything we needed. This cabin is one of the nicest rentals we have stayed at!"

  • Beautiful, quiet, ideal (with only a few notations)

"Crystal Cove delivers! This place is pretty much exactly as stated and was a beautiful, lush, well-appointed place where we stayed for five nights. It's beautiful inside and out, clean and pretty much has any amenity you could want. I can only hope to have a home like this sometime in the future. I do not have *real* complaints at all (hence the five stars) but I'd like to outline a few things you might want to consider, or at least know about ahead of time. These may or may not be issues for everyone -- so again, grain of salt time: INSIDE 1) In case you aren't totally clear when you book, this is the bottom part of a home in which the landlords are resident. They are not noisy; however, you will hear them walking above you and occasionally speaking. They are not up late, but if noise is a factor just consider this. 2) There is a refrigerator but it is much smaller than a typical one in a home. If you buy groceries be prepared that not all may fit. 3) Internet is terrific. It carries well outside and all the way down to the "island." 4) There's a wonderful cross-breeze you can get inside if you open the door next to the bed and the front door. We hardly needed the A/C at all. 5) There's a terrific selection of DVDs available. Some books. 6) No hairdryer. (Or at least I didn't find one.) 7) Toilet paper is of low-grade; if you're sensitive, bring your own. No tissues. OUTSIDE 1) While we had minimal issue with bugs, there were some mosquitoes. Down by the end of the island a large bush contains "meat bees" (aka yellowjackets). We were not stung, but they are curious buggers and are there pretty much all the time. 2) The water level is lovely for wading and sitting in with a book -- just rest against the rocks! But don't expect to go dunking or swimming; either it's always like this or the drought has lowered the river. Bring river shoes if you want to do a little exploring. The flumes on either side of the island are just above trickles. (Again, this may be due to the ongoing drought, and is subject to change.) 3) Grill works on propane and works fine. 4) Area is almost 100% quiet (other than the river water) but on weekends you may hear parties/people on the other side making noise. Again, not an issue if you're not noise-sensitive. BEYOND 1) We were told it gets very busy on the weekends up in the Sequoia/mountains areas, so weekdays are best. True! 2) If you want actual swimming in the river, try Slick Rock. Thank you for this!"

  • Great vacation home!

"My sister, our husbands, and 1 of our adult children just returned home from a wonderful stay in 3 Rivers. The house and deck provided generous accomodations. We have vacationed a lot together and this is the best place we have ever stayed. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils and dishes, linens were plentiful, and the views stunning. It was conveniently located 2 miles outside the Sequoia National Park entrance. Be advised that there is still a long drive to the park's main attractions after passing the main gate. If you plan to pack lunches and prepare meals at home, I would advise shopping before arriving at 3 Rivers. The groceries are quite pricey. You may want to bring plastic cups for smaller children. There are not many unbreakables provided. The owner and property manager were very helpful in making sure we had everything we needed."
