  • Summer Delight

"Mammoth is a delight in the summer. You can stay in this very attractive and well furnished condo and get out into the beautiful lakes and mountain wilderness in just a few minutes. And, you can also easily get to outstanding restaurants such as the Restaurant at Convict Lake, The Lakefront Restaurant at Tamarack Lodge, and the Restaurant at Mammoth Rock N Bowl, as we did. We shared this very comfortable unit with another couple, but it could have easily had two more people in the loft, with its own bath. The owner was very prompt with the paper work, and all was just as advertised."

  • Excellent place for large group

"If you have need of accommodations for a large group of people in the Sierra foothills, I don't see how you could do any better than the Jolly Tar. It lives up to its name precisely because it is so clean and well-equipped that it makes your stay there convenient and carefree. Even during the heat wave, the swamp coolers kept it totally comfortable. It also affords a great deal of privacy with its many private bedrooms. The only unusual arrangement is on the lower level where the one bathroom serving the two bedrooms and pull-out couch in the living room in between is a private bath off one of the bedrooms. This necessitates the other guests to tiptoe through a private bedroom to get to the bathroom or go up a spiral staircase to access the bathroom on the main floor above. Honestly, this is a minor issue that would come up only if the downstairs is packed full. We had every bedroom in use, but there were still more bed space and couches. You could easily and comfortably sleep 20 or more. We had dinner for about 25 people one night, and there was enough room in the fridge and all the kitchen amenities needed. There is also plenty of parking on the property. It was absolutely perfect for our reunion group, and I highly recommend it. Thanks so much-- now that we know there's a place that works so well, we hope to come again in another year or two and make it a habit."

  • Slope-side perfection.

"The best slope-side condo I've stayed in at KW over my 15 + years skiing this mountain. The owners keep it impeccably clean, tasteful, and simple--not crammed with odds and ends from their own personal lives, yet not the stodgy feeling of a hotel either. The beds are exceptionally comfortable, the temperature warm and cozy, the kitchen and utensils beautifully organized. There's obviously a lot of pride and care taken in the place, including keeping it from lapsing back to the dark ages like many of the places are at KW. A coded lock keeps the whole experience key-free. You can ski right to the building's door from Chair 6, and on a powder day wake to a chorus of avalanche bombing. We'd come back here in a heartbeat!"
