  • Large house, comfortable stay

"We are very happy for the size of the house and the owner Trudy is very friendly and easy to reach. Entering this gated community cost us about 20 minutes as there was a long queue at the gate. It is convenient to buy food from the grocery store which is a short drive from the house. The prices are actually pretty good. You don't have to bring any food. It is about 1 hour drive to Yosemite Valley. Good for us. My only complain is that I didn't find any soap and shampoo in all 3 bath room. No cooking oil too. If the owner can prepare these basic things, or at least let me know so that I can bring my own, we will feel some good hospitality. It shouldn't be a huge cost for the owner."

  • The last homely house east of the Sea

"We spent three nights at Groveland, using it for excursions into the Yosemite NP. We found Groveland to be a very good base camp,. Aside from the splendid Mar-Val Supermarket there is a choice of suitable restaurants nearby. The closer you get to the NP, the more compromises you have to make in that respect. In turn you have to take the lengthy drive into account. To the entrance of Yosemite Valley it takes about an hour one way and after our fourth excursion in to the park we became a little tired of all the driving. The house itself is a comfortable cabin style place with a lot of space for a larger party. We stayed with 4 adults and 5 little children and that worked out quite fine. The Pine Mountain Lake location is in the middle of nature, expect flocks of deer around the house at all times. In our fist night we had a clear sky and I saw the stars and especially the Milky Way as clearly as I hadn't seen them in ages. So it is also a great place to show your children what that candy bar is named after and you might want to bring that telescope that has been sitting in the attic for so long. Within the house, all the appliances are fit to host a larger than normal group, the downstairs game room seems to be a good plan B for rainy days, which we didn't have fortunately. What you should not expect is glamour and style. The house has come of age and while functioning perfectly well, it is of course there for the purpose of being rented to guests and subject to the laws of offer and demand. We did get what we expected for our money, Joe Castello was responsive in all transactions and we can definitely recommend the place for future visits."

  • Our perfect little hideaway

"If you want to get away and relax then this is your spot! Beautiful grounds, cozy little romantic sun house for 2 and lovely caretakers who made us feel very welcomed. The house was clean and comfortable, didn't use the pool or Jacuzzi because the weather was cold and there were lots of little bugs buzzing around (I think it's because of the season) but both were very clean and well maintained. Good distance to a near town and up to the national park, the drive is so beautiful that we didn't care. Loved it and can't wait to go back!"

  • Great place!

"Martina's place was perfect for us (2 couples looking to do Thanksgiving in Yosemite). Here are a few facts that may be useful: -There is a full and fully equipped kitchen (pots, pans, multiple crockpots, knives, cutting boards, etc)-- we cooked an entire Thanksgiving dinner, including a 15 lb turkey, and the only equipment we brought was a disposable turkey pan, tin foil, and paper towels. -It takes about 45 minutes to get to the Yosemite Park gate, and 1 hour and 15 minutes to get to Yosemite Valley from the house. -The property is only a couple of minutes (driving) to businesses in Groveland-- grocery store, liquor store, pizza place, etc. -There is a bedroom upstairs and a bedroom downstairs, providing plenty of privacy between the two areas. Beds are super comfortable and we slept like rocks after a day of hiking in the park. -The place is *super* clean! All in all, a great trip. Martina was super helpful and provided us with all the info we needed to enjoy our stay. Would definitely recommend."
