  • Great Duplex Cottage - Walking Distance to Beach/Boardwalk

"This place is centrally located near Westlake drive, Cowell's Beach, Wharf and Beach Boardwalk. Very cozy, clean and best of all had a garage for all of our bikes. We would definitely rent this place again. Kitchen had a coffee maker and toaster and all the necessary kitchen tools. They also had board games (all new), washer and dryer, beach towels and two nice beach chairs. Location was walking distance to everything. Also, Diana was a pleasure to work with and made the booking process very easy. Couple of suggested improvements which did not impact our rating: 1) The adjoining duplex washer and dryer was not working right so it was very loud and needs to be fixed/maintenance 2) vertical blinds in the dining room were broken so we could not close the blinds very easily 3) consider getting a plunger for the restroom 4) Outside there is a nice table and BBQ, but it is not very inviting. Maybe adding some potted plants or greenery may make it more of an outside living area. We had a great vacation at this house and hope that they consider implementing some of our recommended improvements."

  • The beach!

"Great place, literally steps from the beach! Perfect for 1-2, still fits 3-4. Pros: Great beach location away from crowded beach areas, responsive host, available TV options, Brita pitcher, no add-on fees Cons: Parking, internet reach, noise insulation, no a/c, no dishwasher or icemaker, upstairs unit, bathroom light fixture, toilet paper, Don't just count the pro vs con bullets. Pros far outweigh the cons. Details below. The ocean is about 7 lots away across a quiet street, bay is just four lots away. This really is "walking distance", unlike some other places that claim that when they're within a mile of the beach. Parking is scarce, but we found an on-street space right in front of the unit about half the time. The other half we parked on the "main" street right around the corner. Generally looked for parking late at night, after everyone home from work. This was on weekdays though, weekend probably tougher. Wife & I slept in the bdrm, adult kids slept on the couch & sleeper mattress. Compact for 4, but worked fine for us. White noise machine in bdrm - I liked but wife didn't. Kind of funny playing ocean noises just steps from the ocean. But why a noise machine? Windows are single pane - don't do a lot to insulate from noise. This normally doesn't seem to be a problem because it's very quiet in the neighborhood. HOWEVER, there was a remodeling project going on in the alley behind. Hours were approx 0630-1500. They're weren't excessively loud, but normal voices in the alley will carry into the apt. Hopefully, they'll be done by the time you stay here! No a/c, but open windows gave us all the co The internet was pretty fast, about 15-30 Mbps down and 5-10 up. I think it's cable. It slowed down in the evening, but still pretty fast. The wifi din't reach into the bdrm very well, but it was fine in the dining nook and the living room. The kitchen was well-stocked with everything you need including a Brita pitcher in the refrig, but no dishwasher and icemaker (but there are ice cube trays in the freezer). Couple of niggles in bathroom, only 1 roll of toilet paper, light fixture lots of rust. Lupe was very available but also respected our privacy. We were a little nervous about no online payment option, but everything worked out - we just gave her a check when we got there. No add-on fees for this/that like other places. I'd stay again! If you want the beach, here it is!"

  • Beautiful home in perfect location

"We recently stayed at this location and were extremely pleased with everything. The home is a remodeled early 1900's house that is tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with a Viking gas range that any chef would appreciate and the backward is truly magical in the evenings. There is no television in the main living area and this permitted us to relax and chat quietly without the constant din of tv noise. We biked everywhere from this location and will certainly return to this home and our beloved San Diego. Jim and Francisco are delightful as well."

  • Amazing house

"This was an amazing house and it was perfect for our family of 12. Beautiful views, gorgeous pool with great landscape. We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen, it had everything we needed. The only thing we wished were different is faster internet, sharper knives and more dish towels in the kitchen. Overall, 5 stars!!! Would stay here again and did not want to leave!"
