  • Simply fabulous!

"This condo was one of the few places I've stayed where the description doesn't do justice to the reality. Owner Craig Thomas answered my many emails promptly, and the property was pristine. Carnelian Woods is one of the smallest villages along the lake, so if you're looking for comfort and quiet away from rowdy South Tahoe and the casinos, this is the place. The condo has a wonderful kitchen with modern appliances. My wife and I even found beer in the fridge when we arrived, not to mention at least a year's supply of paper towels, toilet paper, laundry soap, and shampoo in the cabinets. The stacked washer/dryer worked perfectly. The comfy king-sized bed with the additional TV upstairs was a plus, along with the DVD player, movies, and large flat-screen downstairs in the living room. The balcony had a view of the lake and a gas grill. It's just a 10-minute walk down the hill among the majestic pines to the lake. Kudos to Craig on the cleanliness of the carpeting and tasteful apartment decorations. Central air/heat worked perfectly, plus there was a gas fireplace for that extra touch of romance. We were there for Labor Day Weekend, just in time for the outstanding fireworks at Garwoods."

  • Charming cabin, great location, well-stocked, lots of perks!

"We had a great time at this cabin. The owners keep the place well-stocked on essentials - -coffee, condiments, cooking spices, even the ice trays were full! This property is not on the water, but it's less than a 5 minute walk away. This has a "cabin in the woods" feel, not a "lake house" feel, and no direct view of the water from the house. That didn't matter to us, but should be kept in mind depending on what kind of experience you're after. The deck was great, with comfortable chairs and lounges, a BBQ grill, propane hibachi, and fire pit that got LOTS of usage. Night time here is beautiful and peaceful, even with a few neighbors who were also enjoying themselves loudly. The owner was very friendly and prompt with communication. We loved it, and will almost definitely stay here again. My only partially negative comment is that the house itself, while beautiful and charming, felt a little smaller than it looked in the pictures. It's cozy, not spacious; so again it just depends on what kind of experience you're looking for."

  • Just a gem!

"This house was perfect for our small family reunion. Privacy and luxury for 3 families - our kids with the baby had the apartment; our other kids and grands had the lower level with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths; Grandma and Grandpa got the master suite. Each level had a flat screen TV, PLENTY of room, and we were close to beaches, parks, restaurants and shopping. Another thing we consider a necessity - good beds! Updated, FULLY STOCKED (!!!) kitchen with new appliances and absolutely spectacular views. Owners obviously take pride in their property and want to make certain guests have every amenity possible. Also, owners are very responsive to issues. We noticed a leaky kitchen faucet one evening and called the owner to notify him. It was replaced the following day before we got back from our activities in the early afternoon. Highly, highly recommend this property if you want an amazing, Lake Tahoe experience."
