  • Cozy, private, little place with a lot of charm

"We stayed for two nights and really enjoyed our time there. We liked the concrete floor, the firm bed and the open layout. The cottage was the perfect spot to rest and relax between our Malibu outings. It's quiet, airy and we loved the sound of the water fountain."

  • Week end wedding in LA

"We arrived from Atlanta on Thursday for a Saturday wedding in the Silver Lake area. This studio was perfect for our needs. It was absolutely spic and span clean. It had everything needed for a short stay. The kitchen was well equipped with fridge, stove and micro oven, coffee pot, toaster, etc. I did see a variety of spices in the cabinet if one was up to a bit of fancy cooking but we ate dinners out at the several excellent and reasonable places nearby, especially the Vietnamese place. Walter left a few pages of recommended restaurants nearby which we found helpful. . Parking out front was an added convenience. My husband was in love with the modern rocking chair for reading in the room and also the privacy and comfort of the patio in the rear. The neighborhood seems totally safe and attractive and there was a new Whole Foods conveniently located one mile from the apt. We enjoyed walking the 'hood and seeing all the various residences and gardens nearby even though the streets were either uphill or down. We would recommend this place to anyone visiting LA as an alternative to a hotel with all of the privacy that came with it. We were there from Thursday until Tuesday and were well pleased with our accommodations. (We did hear the footsteps above as others had alluded to but it was not all day or all night and we took it as part of apt. living.)"

  • Wonderful, quiet location with ocean views

"Stayed here 8 months while in a transition period between selling our home and moving out of state. The home was perfect for what we were looking for - quiet and peaceful with great outdoor space, ocean views and bright light. Owner was extremely responsive with any questions we had and was flexible with our timing and end date. Would definitely stay there again!"

  • Nice place to stay

"We enjoyed our stay at the Grisham condo in the "low-lander" section of Avalon. If you can do stairs, this is the place to stay. On the ground level is the living room and a bath with shower. Up a flight of stairs is the 2nd bedroom with a bath without a shower and the kitchen. Up a flight of stairs is the lovely master bedroom and bath suite. It has double sinks and a roomy shower (jacuzzi tub cannot be used during the drought). The home has been recently renovated and has hard wood floors, tile and nice new furniture. We ate 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner here. The owner supplies paper goods, since the dishwasher is also not allowed to be used during the drought. The toilet in the master bath cycles on and off constantly, but if you close the door, it's not too annoying. It is only a short walk from "town." It is on a busy corner with lots of golf carts putt-putting by. We saw deer from our windows, as they come down for water. The house does not have AC, but has lots of fans. We opened the doors & windows for fresh cool air, which was lovely!"
