"I can't say enough good things about this property and its owners. It was the perfect place for our family meet up to visit my sister and brother-in-law and their new baby (who also stayed in the house). The owners (and the property manager) were amazingly hospitable and welcoming. The house was roomy, warm and had a perfect, relaxing family feel. My kids (2 under 5) loved the bunk beds and Curious George books. My two year old even slept in a bed for the first time the whole week with no problems (which I attribute to the good karma of the house).
The location is perfect, perfect, perfect. As an East Coaster, I like walkability which is hard to come by in LA but this house was a block away from Main Street which has coffee shops, ice cream places, restaurants, nail salons, shops and a lot of other cool stuff. It's also walkable to some cool places in Venice and a very short drive to Abbot Kinney, the 3rd Street promenade, etc. It was also very close to the beach and walkable to the Venice Boardwalk (where we rented bikes) and the Santa Monica Pier (about a mile or so North). There was even a playground on the beach about 5 minutes away from the house.
I've used VRBO many times and this was one of my best experiences. I don't think you can ask for a better location for a vacation in LA. And you can't ask for a nicer, more responsive owner. If you want to stay in a place that makes you wish you lived in Santa Monica, this is the place. I would highly recommend!"

"Really enjoyed this house. Nice property owned by Michael who showed us the house and offered assistance anytime
Great location. Two blocks to Cows End coffee and Hinano(the best local bar with great breakfast burritos and burgers). Block from the boardwalk. On quiet street. Six blocks to James Beach restaurant. Half mile to Abbott Kinney.
We stayed in a canal house last time but really liked this place better."

"The condo is nice and the location on the weetside is perfect. The condo HVAC works well in the family room but does not work well in the master bedroom. Parking is a problem for short stays as you have to park on the street. Street parking is limited."

"I travel to Malibu for vacation in August typically every year. I also try to stay at new unique houses each time I go. Villa Calcare was absolutely beautiful. The property has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. The pool and hot tub are amazing and the views are great from every room. The bedrooms are very spacious with plenty of room and each bathroom with the exception of one has a great shower with built-in sauna. This is the ideal vacation house to rent in Malibu if you have 5 or more guests or a large family. The in-house movie theater with reclining leather seats was another great touch. Access to broad beach is also less than 5 minutes away and is within walking distance. Lastly, if you like to cook, the kitchen has everything you will need and is decked out with a Viking gas range and Viking refrigerator. There is also an outdoor grill at the pool. If you are planning on dining out, there are plenty of restaurants within a 10-15 minute radius.
It's difficult to criticize anything about this property, but in the interest of providing the best review I can, I will list some things that others may wish to know. The downside of being literally right off PCH is that you *will* hear traffic in the morning. It can be heard from every room and there is nothing you can do about that if you are a light sleeper. Also, if you like to sleep in on vacation, don't anticipate sleeping past 8 am. There are no blackout curtains and the drapes are very light and easily allow the sun to brighten every room in the morning. These were really the only things that were an issue for me during my stay."
