  • Beautiful Mid Century gem in Pasadena

"We rented this home for five nights for our son's wedding. It was just as gorgeous as the pictures on VRBO had suggested. The original mid Century character was visible in every room, and the furnishings were classic and understated. Best of all, the wall of glass made the pool area visible from the living room, dining room and kitchen. In the evenings we opened the sliding glass doors to let the beautiful California evening in. Sunsets were amazing. The location was fantastic--a quiet neighborhood only five minutes from Old Town and convenient to the 210, 134 and 110 freeways. It's also an easy commute (30 minutes or less) to downtown, Dodger Stadium, Chinatown, Universal Studios and the whole of the San Fernando Valley. The owner AJ was lovely to deal with and very responsive whenever we had a question. Overall, this is an excellent option for a family (three bedrooms, sleeps six comfortably) that wants an extended stay in Pasadena. We definitely will rent again the next time our family gets out to Southern California."

  • Quiet, comfy living

"My parents and I stayed here for 11 days so I could have major surgery at USC, and it worked wonderfully for us. The easy flow between rooms allowed me to move around well with a walker, but the layout also afforded plenty of privacy -- helpful since my parents are divorced! My mother valued the en suite bathroom in the back (white) bedroom, and my father liked being able to tuck away peacefully in the front (rose) bedroom. I stayed in the middle (sage) bedroom, giving me easy access to both of them, and to both bathrooms. (Note that there's a door directly from the middle bedroom to the back bedroom, so there's not total privacy between those two rooms.) The kitchen is spacious and easy to work in, and there's a little spot to eat in there as well as a breakfast nook, a huge dining/working table, and an outdoor table with an umbrella. We made heavy use of the washer/dryer in the garage and the TV with Netflix, and we took a lot of walks around the quiet, friendly neighborhood. Because of my condition, we didn't see many sights, but we did love the Huntington Botanical Gardens. I've been to plenty of gardens, and the Huntington is the most magnificent I've seen -- by far! Everything was as described, and Kathleen was helpful and communicative before, during, and after. And she was completely lovely and forgiving about the fact that we accidentally broke her coffee pot!"

  • Birdsong Wakeup

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our stay at this wonderful, peaceful retreat, nestled up on the side of the San Gabriel foothills was perfect. We needed a great space to "be" after a cancer surgery and simultaneously needing to move out of our home for repair and renovation due to unexpected water damage. We couldn't have had a better place to be than Casa Aralia. The patio was a favorite spot, but the birdsong wake-ups were our favorite aspect about the place--and the comfort of the bedding!! Everything was as it should be."

"Very funky comfortable house. If you're walking to old Pasadena its 30 pleasant min. About 40 to Rose bowl. Lots of interesting memorabilia. Great yard and pool"
