  • Great location. Close to UCLA. Fun history to learn about the cottage! Great hosts>

"We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. Gus and Valerie were so welcoming and helpful. We were moving our daughter into UCLA and this place was ideal. Ralph's is right across the street for grocery shopping. The mall is walking distance from the cottage. We will definitely be booking again."

  • California Dreaming truly at its best!!!

"Back to our hometown for not quite a week, and I'm feeling homesick for The Glencoe Retreat. Wow!! What a great find and great location this was. After a rocky start to our vacation, and having not-so-fun experiences with other properties we booked for the trip, we stumbled on to the Glencoe Retreat in a beautiful Venice neighborhood. It was love at first sight, and I felt positive vibes instantly. Settling in made the early days of our trip a complete blur. Thank God for that! It's as if we were supposed to be there all along. Thank you Denny and Stuebe! You were the perfect hosts, and you both made our experience in your beautiful space even that much better. I said it during our trip, and I'll say it again: that walking through that gate every day felt like home. The cottage has all the comforts you could want, and was welcoming in every way. The bottle of Culton wine, and the warm welcome note was such a wonderful touch on arrival too!! That wine was FABULOUS, and how fun to now be part of the "Cult". We're looking forward to our first wine shipment. :) From the well stocked kitchen, to the comfy bed and linens, to our bikes rides during the day, and the backyard bubble baths at night, we couldn't have asked for anything more. I can't wait to come back. Your retreat truly saved me, and our vacation! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Sending you two beautiful souls a big hug from Buffalo, New York."

  • Nice place to stay

"We enjoyed our stay at the Grisham condo in the "low-lander" section of Avalon. If you can do stairs, this is the place to stay. On the ground level is the living room and a bath with shower. Up a flight of stairs is the 2nd bedroom with a bath without a shower and the kitchen. Up a flight of stairs is the lovely master bedroom and bath suite. It has double sinks and a roomy shower (jacuzzi tub cannot be used during the drought). The home has been recently renovated and has hard wood floors, tile and nice new furniture. We ate 2 breakfasts and 1 dinner here. The owner supplies paper goods, since the dishwasher is also not allowed to be used during the drought. The toilet in the master bath cycles on and off constantly, but if you close the door, it's not too annoying. It is only a short walk from "town." It is on a busy corner with lots of golf carts putt-putting by. We saw deer from our windows, as they come down for water. The house does not have AC, but has lots of fans. We opened the doors & windows for fresh cool air, which was lovely!"
