  • Great View, Great Location

"The view of the ocean from the balcony is amazing. The house exceeded expectations for the space and finishes. They have a bunch of beach gear to borrow like chairs, surfboards, volleyball, etc. The location is excellent being on the beach and walkable to restaurants, bars, shops, etc."

  • Excellent location and very spacious

"We enjoyed our all-too-short visit to West LA, and this apartment was the ideal location. Since it's right near Wilshire and the 405, it was a piece of cake to get to Brentwood, Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, the Getty Center, Venice, West Hollywood. Recommendations: Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf (walk a block north up the alley from the apartment, and *poof,* your caffeine fix!), The Getty Center, Matthew's Garden Cafe (Pacific Palisades), Toscana (Brentwood - pricey Italian, but worth it), Salt and Straw ice cream (Venice - incredible!), Summer Buffalo (WeHo - Thai), The Groundlings for Comedy/Improv shows where you laugh till your face hurts for $20 per seat. Not recommended: Gjelina (Venice) - excellent brunch, but major pretentious attitude ("No, sorry, you cannot have your scrambled eggs cooked more, because we only do them soft, as is specified on the menu. No catsup for the potatoes; we don't have that here."). The Great: * Owner is very responsive; she emailed or texted back quickly when we had questions. * Plenty of room, especially in the dining/living room area. Also the bedroom closets are massive. * Even being a block from Wilshire, no traffic noise bothered us. The effective A/C units could be partially the reason, as they act as good white noise. * A dedicated parking space, which is like gold in this area. Although it wasn't too hard to find street parking in the middle of the day. The Could-Be-Better: * It would have been nice to have paper towels in the kitchen and small soaps in the showers. * There are a few signs of age in the apartment, like a broken cabinet knob and cracks in the sink. * The beds are comfortable, but major creaking noise if you turn over at night (at least in the west bedroom)."

  • We love it here!!!

"My wife and I stayed at the "Panorama" (another property owned/managed by the Modern Villas) in January for a getaway and we loved it so much, we decided to come back and bring friends. The house we previously stayed in wasn't available, but this ended up being even better (and much bigger). This four-story villa is truly luxurious and is a one-of-a-kind old Hollywood-style home. There were 8 of us and we had such a great time. Heated pool (with a view!), steam room shower, amazing attention to detail in the interior design and located right behind the Hollywood Bowl (we even heard the music one night). We will definitely be coming back!"

  • Beautiful Quiet Mountain Retreat

"I recently stayed with my family, which included my son, and my daughter with her husband and my six month old granddaughter. I had the pleasure of enjoying five nights at this lovely vacation home . Priscilla was a very good hostess providing us with a very warm and inviting accomodation and being very accessible to addressing any questions that we had. The bedrooms were very comfortable and gave you plenty of space to enjoy private time, and the master sweet had easy access to the beautiful outside deck areas. My daughter had plenty of room to accommodate her baby's portable crib and the room was perfect for her to take her naps. We enjoyed both spacious sitting areas - the family room with the tv was a great room for relaxing together for everyone. Our little Miri especially enjoyed a giant stuffed bear which gave her just enough support to sit up by herself and have fun with her doting family! There was plenty of room in the fridge and we enjoyed preparing breakfast and lunch to share together dining in the outside areas. The views we had taking a short walk up behind the house were amazing, especially the huge full moon(both rising at night and then setting in the morning), constellations, hummingbirds, and even seeing a flock of green parrots! Looking out to the ocean, it was breathtakingly beautiful. Driving the road down to Malibu was a little scary with its switch back curves, but the views were amazing and made the beaches very accessible. We especially enjoyed Zuma Beach with its long beautiful stretches of sand and gorgeous sunset , El Matador Beach with its magnificent rock formations, and Leo Carrillo Beach with its many tide pools, huge waves and very skilled surfers! Priscilla had everything you could need for the beach, which made it perfect for us to explore the different areas. The washer and dryer worked great and having all the detergent and fabric sheets made it very easy to keep things fresh. The driveway provided us with two spots under the carport and one for my son-in-law to park in when he came up from LA. It is on an angle so you need to be cautious. Thank you Priscilla for sharing your lovely mountain home! It is a family vacation that we will all have very fond memories of!"
