  • Amazing Place and Location!!

"I can't say enough good things about this property and its owners. It was the perfect place for our family meet up to visit my sister and brother-in-law and their new baby (who also stayed in the house). The owners (and the property manager) were amazingly hospitable and welcoming. The house was roomy, warm and had a perfect, relaxing family feel. My kids (2 under 5) loved the bunk beds and Curious George books. My two year old even slept in a bed for the first time the whole week with no problems (which I attribute to the good karma of the house). The location is perfect, perfect, perfect. As an East Coaster, I like walkability which is hard to come by in LA but this house was a block away from Main Street which has coffee shops, ice cream places, restaurants, nail salons, shops and a lot of other cool stuff. It's also walkable to some cool places in Venice and a very short drive to Abbot Kinney, the 3rd Street promenade, etc. It was also very close to the beach and walkable to the Venice Boardwalk (where we rented bikes) and the Santa Monica Pier (about a mile or so North). There was even a playground on the beach about 5 minutes away from the house. I've used VRBO many times and this was one of my best experiences. I don't think you can ask for a better location for a vacation in LA. And you can't ask for a nicer, more responsive owner. If you want to stay in a place that makes you wish you lived in Santa Monica, this is the place. I would highly recommend!"

  • A dream

"My boyfriend and I spent the most romantic weekend of my life at this cottage in the grove. We enjoyed the privacy and freedom to use the outdoor showers and outdoor fireplace. We spent hours lounging from one sun drenched beautiful room to the next lounging on daybeds. It is now and forever "our" place. everyone needs a place that your biggest problem is waffles? or pancakes? and what bed do we want to snuggle in today. Jill and her husband blew us away with their kindness and their willingness to help with anything.I could honestly go on forever with my gushing. <3 Love Nickie Mingarelli & Johnny Ceravalo"

  • Charming & Special!

"Canyon View Lodge is wonderful! Its many appealing aspects--location, setting, house, and lovely hosts--add up to a very special place. LOCATION: Its location in Topanga Canyon is ideal for several reasons. Being mid-way between PCH and Woodland Hills allows for easy access to the beach, Malibu, and LA, as well as shopping in WH. Near the top of one side of the Canyon, it offers an amazing view of the far ridge. It's also located at the end of two short (vs very long) steep roads. SETTING: Its tiered garden behind the guesthouse is replete with lavender and rosemary. Lanterns hung in the overarching live oak trees enhance this magical setting at night. With its potted palms and plants, the large terrace below/in front of the guesthouse looks like it could be in the Mediterranean. Twinkle lights entwined along its railing make for a most welcoming effect. GUESTHOUSE: The charming two-story guesthouse is cozy, compact, and well designed. The knotty pine interior is sympatico with its natural setting. The many windows imbue the house with a great sense of light. Andrea and Peter's design capabilities are impressive. For example, as a desk sits in its own alcove, it doesn't intrude on the living room area. Though tiny, the kitchen is well equipped and organized. HOSTS: Andrea and Peter were delightful. They respected my privacy, and were always willing to be helpful and accommodating. I thoroughly enjoyed my two month stay there. I can't wait to return!"

  • Best property we have ever stayed in!

"This beautiful condo was wonderful for our family of four - us and our two children of 8 and 6. Paul was a fantastic host and all the instructions were clear and he was there to meet us when we arrived to explain everything. The patio with BBQ was so sweet and we had a friend around for drinks and cheese and it was lovely to sit there with the fairy lights and warm breezes. The living room was comfortable for lounging and the boys enjoyed the Playstation of course. The kitchen was fully equipped and there was a great cooler and ice packs we took with our picnic to the Hollywood Bowl. There were boogie boards on offer and our boys practically wore them out at Zuma Beach, as well as towels and bags for the beach. The beds were unbelievably comfortable - all our usual aches and pains seemed to melt away in these! The bathrooms were lovely with good showers. The property was close to a lovely ice cream shop, Sweet Rose Creamery and not far by car or bike from Santa Monica attractions such as the Pier or 3rd Street Promenade. We ate at Rustic Canyon which was great, as well as Urth Caffe, Huckleberry, Lemonade and other great places. Biking along the beaches to Venice, fun at Pacific Park on the Pier, the beaches, the Getty Villa (amazing!), shopping and Malibu not too far up the coast make for a fabulous time - and Paul's place is the perfect base for all your adventures. Enjoy and we will be back!!"
