  • Magical stay during winter break

"We came with two families, with 2 kids each. Since we come from opposite ends of the country, we wanted to maximize “together time” without sacrificing luxury. Staying at a luxury hotel or condo usually means that each family stays separately—making it difficult for the adults to hang out after the kids’ bedtime. At the Albion Schoolhouse, we had both privacy and ample opportunities to be together, really the best of both worlds. As soon as we walked in, the kids made a beeline for the stage—complete with microphone, piano (tuned!), lighting, and drums. The whole area inspired the kids so much that they used all of their vacation free time coming up with a play that they presented on the last day of our trip. The floor plan of the house is really quite remarkable. There is tons of room but is on ONE FLOOR, which gives, a lovely feeling of “togetherness” while allowing privacy when needed. Nighttime is magical—very quiet and dark (no light pollution) allowing for amazing stargazing and photography. Every detail of the house is thought through and clearly a labor of love for the owners. There is beautifully maintained yoga equipment, lots of books, and our favorites—puzzles and games. Because the house is set up with various “conversation areas,” our family could enjoy a board game on the super-cool jumbo Scrabble table, while the other family could play music and somehow there wasn’t mass cacophony—just the happy sounds of vacation! The beds were delicious, with luxurious sheets. All four kids slept on the stage in what they called “kids club.” Everyone looked forward to the luxurious tub showers at the end of the day. Since it was chilly when we were there, we really appreciated the radiant heat, which is quiet, very precise, separately controlled room-to-room, and doesn’t give the awful dryness of forced air. Justine arranged for our groceries to be delivered. We arrived to a full fridge! The kitchen was divine—top-of-the-line appliances and a wonderful layout allowing for socialization during food-prep and dishwashing. Justine also recommended local restaurants, massage therapists, and activities. Overall, we could not have felt more pampered at the Four Seasons. The whole house has a wonderful vibe, and the set-up really facilitates a wonderful, unplugged vacation with lots of opportunities to enjoy nature, friendships, and family. We will definitely be back to this very special property!"

  • Comfortable, stylish home able to flexibly host a large family group

"We spent a late Christmas at the Caspar Coast House as a large family group and had a fabulous time. The property is nicely located for both Fort Bragg and Mendocino, as well as coastal access. We enjoyed the hot tub and the large communal space inside the house for socialising, playing games, and having family meals. The kitchen is very well equipped and easy to cook in, even when there are multiple cooks trying to use it simultaneously to pull off a large meal, which is no small feat. We really enjoyed our time in this peaceful location, and Birdie was an excellent hostess. We would love to come and stay again in the future. The only reason this is a four and not a five star rating is the proximity of the other house to the coast house. It isn't as private as we would have liked in a perfect world."

  • fantastic place to truly get away and relax, and if wanted enjoy some local good food/talent

"The place was spotless and the decorating wonderful. All lended to a truly relaxing weekend. You do need to be comfortable with heating with wood burning stove and it takes some experience so you can get entire house warm. View from living room and master of the ocean is so beautiful. The owner was very available and helpful. The area is full of trails for hiking as well. Kitchen nice to work in even though had minimal dishes and was an electric stove."

  • The home was a good fit for our family of 12 and the kitchen provides all the tools to cook meals.

"Nice home with beautiful views of the ocean throughout the house. Easy access to State Park for relaxing walks through the woods. Our family was very comfortable in the house while it rained outside."
