  • Perfect for walking to the beach

"There are so many places to walk to from the house... the kids playground, the beach, the walking trail along the coast. It was just beautiful."

  • Maximum Relaxation

"We had the pleasure of staying five relaxing nights at the Kirsch house and it was great! The hot tub in the woods was just what we needed. The view of the redwoods from both floors was mesmerizing. The few draw backs for us were that they don't provide a complete knife set. Instead they have mixed matched slicing, paring and steak knives. The beds and living furniture aren't all that comfortable. The beds feel like a weird futon mattress, and the couch is a futon. It was okay when we pulled the futon out and sat on it with our feet up. Also, the stereo system doesn't work. The speakers just make a loud cracking noise. Be sure to bring a Bluetooth speaker or you can listen to music on the TV. There are some music channels available on the Direct TV guide, which is what we did. Oh, on a side note it took us two days to fully understand how the Bosch stove worked. We were more focused on the atmosphere though."

  • Lovely, private home with ocean views

"We are frequent visitors to Sea Ranch but this was our first stay at Hedgegate house. We had a wonderful stay in part due to the thoughtful and thorough efforts made by the property owner to make our stay comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed, we cooked many meals and never wanted for equipment. The loft was enjoyed thoroughly by our 10-year old son who had fun in his own space while still being part of the action downstairs. Hot tub was great for sunset watching. Hawley goes to great lengths to make her guests feel at home. All in all we had an exquisite experience and cannot wait to go back!"

  • Relaxing birthday weekend

"I booked Sea Myst for 3 nights for my 60th birthday with my wife. The home is rustic yet reasonably comfortable, tidy, well provisioned and tastefully decorated. The hot tub, and heating work well and the master bedroom bed is very comfortable with the hi quality linens making crawling in wonderful. We felt that the Master BR flat screen is too far from the bed for comfortable viewing and could just as easily be mounted in a fold down on the middle beam at the foot of the bed. However there is a huge new screen in the LR. We ended up watching films (good wifi signal only got wacky during the peak of the storm) on the laptop. We arrived on the first really cold rainy weekend, and discovered there was no wood for the fireplace and the top oven was inoperative requiring the birthday cake to go in the lower oven which didn't reach proper heat and took 2 hours to bake coming out like hard biscotti. From talking to the owner upon discovering this, he explained that the kitchen was original 1972 and a remodel was coming. Both would have been important to know going in as our intent was not to move the car once we parked until we left so I didn't drive out to get firewood or find a repairman for the oven. Luckily we brought a bunch of chinese takeout that lasted us the entire time. The second BR in one side of a converted garage and is best suited for responsible children who you won't mind sharing your bathtub with as it only has a half bath adjacent to it. It would be somewhat awkward for two adult couples, I think. Be careful with the locks on the second BR because they could get locked in. That could be a safety hazard if someone can't get out. The location is the best feature of Sea Myst. Walking to the beach and bluffs is at the end of the street and was our main reason for selecting it. The owners have plenty of amenities, rain coats, bikes, games, umbrellas flashlights and extensive library of books. It was fun looking at Scientific American issues from 1964 in the cozy loft. Although the LR couch sectional is new it isn't the kind of piece that was easy to sink into cozily with a book and a beverage for an afternoon. It was hard to feel really comfortable on it. Overall the time went by way too fast. With an updated and fully functional kitchen and attention to the change in the seasons this place would rate five stars."
