  • Great Adventure

"We had a great time, cabin was in perfectly clean condition, neighbor was really friendly and playing bootleg reggae all afternoon while he cleaned his daughter danced and played in the front yard for an hour while we unpacked and organized our things. The house is open and spacious, fully stocked with pots ans pans. We have a very comfortable stay. Thanks so much! Shelter cove was rugged and beautiful, worth the trip over the hill. Kings range 4x4 adventure and hiking was awesome. Blacksand beach and the rest of the cove outstanding."

  • An incredible setting for a vacation home!

"Our family travelled from NYC, San Jose, and Magalia, CA to meet at The Tidepool house for a week of rest and relaxation. The house is situated on a bluff with an amazing view of the cove, the ocean, and awesome sunsets. We were all pleased to have the first 3 days fog filled as we had all come from steamy-hot locations, but when the sun broke out and stayed out for the rest of our time we were thrilled. Gorgeous weather propelled us to do lots of walking, exploring, and swimming. The sun room and living room give you every opportunity to just gaze out to sea, or check out the abundant wildlife. We saw mule deer and their kids, sea lions, many different raptors, quail, and the highlight - a red fox and her two pups. Close enough to go out to dinner or explore neighboring towns, and private enough to feel like you are the only ones around. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and recommend this place highly."

  • Perfect house for a large family gathering

"Our experience at Bay Dream was beyond perfect. From my first friendly and professional contact with the home owner, to her offering to mail me the favourite jeans I left behind, we could not have found a more suitable home for our large family gathering of 12. The setting, on one of the Mendocino Coast's iconic headlands, is magnificent, with gorgeous views of the ocean, nearby Caspar Beach, sunrises and sunsets from different windows. The house is fully equipped and super comfortable with great mattresses in every room and extra bedding for kids crashing on-pull-out beds. There is even an outdoor shower 😃 and to my mother-in-law's great delight- a waffle iron!!! The large living dining kitchen area is perfect for hanging out, as is the outdoor area overlooking the deep bay, replete with picnic table, benches and Adirondack chairs, so condusive to family relaxing and connecting time. Fabulous spot."

  • Relaxing birthday weekend

"I booked Sea Myst for 3 nights for my 60th birthday with my wife. The home is rustic yet reasonably comfortable, tidy, well provisioned and tastefully decorated. The hot tub, and heating work well and the master bedroom bed is very comfortable with the hi quality linens making crawling in wonderful. We felt that the Master BR flat screen is too far from the bed for comfortable viewing and could just as easily be mounted in a fold down on the middle beam at the foot of the bed. However there is a huge new screen in the LR. We ended up watching films (good wifi signal only got wacky during the peak of the storm) on the laptop. We arrived on the first really cold rainy weekend, and discovered there was no wood for the fireplace and the top oven was inoperative requiring the birthday cake to go in the lower oven which didn't reach proper heat and took 2 hours to bake coming out like hard biscotti. From talking to the owner upon discovering this, he explained that the kitchen was original 1972 and a remodel was coming. Both would have been important to know going in as our intent was not to move the car once we parked until we left so I didn't drive out to get firewood or find a repairman for the oven. Luckily we brought a bunch of chinese takeout that lasted us the entire time. The second BR in one side of a converted garage and is best suited for responsible children who you won't mind sharing your bathtub with as it only has a half bath adjacent to it. It would be somewhat awkward for two adult couples, I think. Be careful with the locks on the second BR because they could get locked in. That could be a safety hazard if someone can't get out. The location is the best feature of Sea Myst. Walking to the beach and bluffs is at the end of the street and was our main reason for selecting it. The owners have plenty of amenities, rain coats, bikes, games, umbrellas flashlights and extensive library of books. It was fun looking at Scientific American issues from 1964 in the cozy loft. Although the LR couch sectional is new it isn't the kind of piece that was easy to sink into cozily with a book and a beverage for an afternoon. It was hard to feel really comfortable on it. Overall the time went by way too fast. With an updated and fully functional kitchen and attention to the change in the seasons this place would rate five stars."
