  • Relaxing and Peaceful family getaway

"Our family of 5 and our dog, wanted to have a short vacation away from the busy bay area. We always travel with Grandparents, cousins, friends and realized we haven’t had a family vacation with just US for years! This property was better than I expected from their website. The quite neighborhood it is situated in was beautiful. We woke every morning (4 day stay) to walk our pup among tons of deer grazing in the yard and across the street, you could hear and see the beautiful Pacific, and the vibe was just so relaxing. The house is furnished very tastefully, and the kitchen was well stocked. The soft linens on the bed were extremely comfortable and we all slept so well. We spent lazy days hanging on the porch bbqing, in the hot tub, kids relaxing in the nice open, large living room by the fire playing games. At night we watched movies from their huge stash of DVD’s. We brought our telescope that was given to my oldest son as a gift and have not been able to use it yet. It was amazing for star gazing. Even without the telescope the kids have never seen so many stars. Irish Beach is spectacular with tons of drift wood that the kids built a little house out of, and we saw maybe two other people the whole day we spent there. Short drive to Fort Bragg to take kids on a quick train trip. We shopped at the local grocery store in town for most of our meals. It was nice they had a washer and dryer in the house. My 12, 7 and 5 year old had the best time and did not want to leave. It is amazing how just getting out of your home and element can be really great for the family. The kids all got along so well this weekend, and there was no video games, iPhones to play with, cartoons, toys littering the floor. It was just us. It was magical! One evening we were all on the back deck and a ton of donkeys came running down the hill to us! It was hilarious and awesome for the kids. They let us pet them, and we feed them some celery (hope that was okay). We felt at home and comfortable. It was JUST what our little family needed to recharge the batteries of our busy day to day life. I don’t think we looked at the time once! Ahhhh… I can’t wait to go back next year. Thank you Alex and Cathy for taking such good care of this property. The love you have for it shows and we can’t WAIT to return next year and make this an annual trip for our family. Just a wonderful time!!!!"

  • Perfect location, perfect cottage

"Once again, we had a wonderful stay at this cottage in the village of Mendocino. The location is perfect with no need to drive to restaurants, shops or hikes along the bluffs."

  • My stay at the cottage

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I really enjoyed the time I spent in the cottage. The location was perfect just a short walk to the beach and Trinidad is a lovely and comfortable area. I was very much at home in the cottage which lent itself to relaxing and recharging me as I worked through the week. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen had everything needed to prepare anything I wanted. Only thing amiss was no washer and dryer or bath tub which is great to have as a long term renter. I would recommend this rental."

  • This was a great place to stay!

"We had 3 generations on our trip and this was a great place for all. We loved walking over the footbridge to get to the cabin. The grounds are beautiful and getting down to river was easy. We spent our days hiking in the redwoods, playing at the beach in Crescent City and swimming in the river and we ended every day soaking in the hot tub! There are only a couple of things that we would change, first the bed was soft and the dish tv didn't have ESPN or any other sports channels and we were looking forward to watching some college football in the evenings. Overall this is a great place and we are already planning our next visit!"
