  • Warm, cozy, great location, just a few small glitches

"Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: After a weird start (when we arrived the door was unlocked, the lockbox lying open on the ground, and when we ventured inside the key turned up inside on a table) we found this small studio to be a warm and cozy place in a mostly quiet and convenient location. It had not been cleaned when we arrived but someone came to take care of it within an hour or so and promised to take 10% off the bill - I would have preferred simply to have the place ready when we arrived, but it was only a small annoyance. Disappointingly small refrigerator in rather awkward location, idiosyncratic supply in kitchen (pepper but no salt? so we bought some and left it)."

  • Five stars ***** in all respects! Exceeded all expectations. We'll be back.

"We really enjoyed our four night stay at the cottage. Everything in the cottage was clean, new and perfectly decorated. Comfy bed with lots of pillows. Gets five stars ***** in all respects. Property is in a very nice, quiet neighborhood up on a hill away from the town a little bit and we were so happy to be surrounded by a literal forest of gorgeous Coast Redwoods on three sides! Every window has an awesome view. Saw several deer each evening. We found no need to drive more than 5 minutes for excellent spirits and Farm to Fork sustenance. We loved the newly remodeled Minor Theater (built 1914) and hung with the friendly locals at a hip little bar called Richard's Goat!! Arcata is very close to the Redwood parks so it was only 50 minutes or so to get to the big old growth groves which is a must see. We were there in October so we practically had the trails to ourselves."

  • Again, the best.

"Over the years my wife and I have stayed at places from Caramel to Portland, and have found Katies Ocean Mist Cottage to be one of the best appointed and comfortable places we have stayed at. What sets it apart is Katies attention to detail, everything you need is there, from dishes to extra blankets. This is our 4th time here, and it almost feels like home. Thank you Katie for having such a welcoming, friendly place."

  • Fantastic view, great house!

"This house is a dream! Close to town but it feels like a world away. Plenty of room for everyone (we are traveling with our 3 teenage kids). The boys did a little fishing on the beautiful river and we spent a bit of time in Brookings and at Harris Beach. Everything was perfect!"
