  • Fabulous Beach Cottage

"We had a most wonderful time staying here for a week while escaping the hot Arizona sun. For our family of 3, this was the perfect size. The queen bed is firm, which is how we like it and the 3 extra beds worked well for having slumber parties with our 10-year-old daughter. The furniture and decor is vintage/antiques and aren't very beachy, but they were very pretty pieces. The kitchen and bathroom are updated very nicely - note, there is no tub. We loved using the grill after days at the beach and sitting among the beautiful gardens. The garage is a great extra and has the washer and dryer as well as beach toys, chairs, baby equipment and bikes! We did bring our own bikes, which truly added to our fun. We biked to the beach daily as well as some coffee shops and breakfast places and ice cream (The Ice Cream Way!) stores. The kitchen is well equipped. Shampoo, conditioner, new bar soap and plenty of toilet paper were provided. We had only two issues and they were quickly attended to by David. The location is perfect, too! Close enough to the downtown and beaches but far enough away to get street parking and enjoy some quiet nights. There's no AC but the coastal breezes from the open windows worked fine and my daughter and I each used a floor fan to blow cool air on our faces at night. We definitely plan to recommend this location to friends and hope to return!"

  • Location Could Not Be Better

"This was our second year staying at this beach house with our three grown kids and we love it so much that we are already talking about returning next year! Main Street, the pier, shopping, restaurants and Pacific City all are a short walk away and the kids and their friends never run out of things to do. Running to the food market or visiting one of the many southern California amusement parks is really the only time you need to drive a car. The home is spacious, the kitchen well equipped (for those times you really want to stay in for a meal) and the outdoor decks are ideal for hanging out- day or evening. Donna has thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. Counting down the weeks until vacation next summer!"

  • Nice stay in HB, CA

"This rental is ideal for 1 or 2 people. It is well maintained and very clean. I had a slight plumbing problem due to roots in the line which was resolved the same day that I contacted the owner. He is very accommodating and helpful. It is small, but detached from the main home with a fountain by the door for ambiance. There is a sitting area with a flat screen TV and a small table for dining with a full kitchenette with a full-sized refrigerator. The bathroom is small with a compact shower, but suited my purposes fine. Great location near HB and shops as well as easy access in and out of the area. There are laundry facilities available with an ironing board and iron on site. Parking was inside a garage. They provided 2 different choices for AC, but this near the beach would probably not be needed. For a few nights, there were other guests in the larger unit who chose to smoke outside. Since I am highly allergic to smoke, I just shut the window and turned on the AC until they went inside and air outside was clean for an open window. When visiting this area again, I would definitely consider staying here."

  • Good central location.

"Our family of five stayed here for a week. It’s a great location, close to attractions and beaches both up and down the coast, from Long Beach down to Newport and beyond. HB is a very fun and convenient spot to have as a central base for a nice SoCal vacation. The beach there is great for surfing/boogie boards, walking, biking on the paths, etc. I personally recommend going to Crystal Cove State Park to the south, and Naples Island to the north--two of my favorite places! There are 3 cruiser bikes available (bring your own helmet if that’s important to you) which are great to ride along the beach boardwalk. There are also several boogie boards, a beach umbrella and sand toys. There were a few beach chairs available but generally they were heavy and/or broken so we didn't use them. According to my “MapMyWalk” app, it’s 1/3 mile from the front door to the sand on the beach, (add another block or two if you want to cross PCH at a crosswalk). You’ll get your own key code to unlock the door so no need to keep track of a house key, which is great. Off-street parking in the alley. The house itself could be described as “shabby chic”—a bit rundown in the furnishings with an abundance of straight-back chairs both inside and out, but overall very adequate and spacious enough for a family of five. Note that the following items are not provided so you’ll want to bring them with or buy at your earliest convenience: laundry detergent, paper towels/wipes/rags, paper napkins. There are 2 kitchen towels and a new dish sponge provided but that's it. There are plenty of nice bathroom towels and two small beach towels. You need to bring cash or a cashier’s check/money order for the payment upon arrival—no credit cards beyond the initial deposit."
