  • Cozy little place

"On a whim, we decided to go to Mammoth for my 40th birthday with my family. Jeff's place was available at a decent price so I jumped on it. For the smallish size condo, you get a very well organized and set up place with everything you could possibly need. In fact, the use of space was impressive and made it feel like a bigger place than it was. It was clean, with plenty of towels and linens. It easily sleeps four, but if you're family or don't mind close quarters I'd say it is worth asking the owner if you have an extra adult (the couches are huge). That's the other thing about this place: you get to work directly with the owner, not some management company. Jeff was very accommodating, flexible and responsive (and a super nice guy who we ran into at the jacuzzi). This was especially important for us for check-in and check-out since we were coming up with a 2 year old, and my older parents and sister who don't ski. Only downsides I could think of was that the carpet could use an upgrade and there were a few spots near the edges where the nails holding it down were poking through a bit. Also, the dining chairs and tables could use a little tightening up as they were wobbly (as a toddler father, you notice these things). In summary, this is a homey place with everything you need for a comfortable Mammoth trip, including a wood stove, wifi, the jacuzzi just a few doors down, easy access to Mammoth Mountain (Canyon lodge), etc. If you're looking for luxury, it might not be a fit for you; otherwise it is a very convenient and comfortable place with just about everything you can ask for (we brought up our own coffee grinder but didn't need to!)."

  • February Visit

"The condo was perfectly located for a San Diego visit just behind Petco Park. We walked 4 short blocks to 5th Avenue (GasLamp District) and enjoyed a variety of meals and night life. The USS Midway aircraft carrier museum is a 20-25 minute walk. We had rented a car and were given a great parking spot in the secured garage. The condo building also has a Skybox on the roof (the 24th floor) where you can cook, relax and enjoy a panoramic view of San Diego and the harbor. We went there often for the fantastic view and to enjoy the sun. The condo has 2 bedrooms and was perfect for 2 couples. It has some minor issues with the furniture, but that was more than offset by the reduced rate. My wife and I plan to go back again many times as we visit San Diego regularly."

  • Delightful Time for Ten (plus one toddler)

"My family of ten celebrated our 60 years of marriage at Almost Paradise. There was more than enough room for all of us to be comfortable, while maintaining a feeling of coziness. The views are exquisite, the kitchen is a chef's dream, and our great granddaughter loved peeking into all the nooks and crannies. The younger members of the family went on hikes and we all went cheese tasting in nearby areas. A weekend to remember."
