  • Exceeded Expectations

"Location, location, location....centrally located to everything. Karen couldn't have been more accommodating and accessible. There were (10) of us in all spread throughout the 2 floors and more than enough room. Home was clearly designed and decorated by a Interior Designer with unique touches in every corner. The pool, the courtyards, the water views.....tremendous VALUE for the price. Beds, linens, TVs and furniture have all been updated to make the surroundings very comfortable. The (4) bathrooms were all well done and the (5) bedrooms were equally laid out in terms of space. There were no shortcomings with this home. We looked at a very other rentals in the area for future travels and none compared. Well done Karen."

  • Fantastic Location and Views in Laguna Beach

"This was our 2nd time staying at The Retreat. Both times, we were with our two kids (now 9 and 11) and this last time we brought our mini-schnauzer with us. Needless to say, both times were amazing! The place is super chill and has been access down to the beach literally about 30 steps away. The views of the ocean and downtown Laguna are spectacular both from the balcony and rooftop deck. Although the units are small for a party of 4, the unit we rented had a pull out couch and Bianca was nice enough to make a surprisingly comfortable blowup mattress available for our 9 year old. Although the place is small, it is extremely cozy. It even has a fireplace (although we didn't use it during our visit in August). On this point, I should note that the A/C and ceiling fans work like a dream and the place was plenty cool, despite the relatively hot temps in Aug. The kitchen is extremely functional with pretty much everything you could need for cooking. It is also has a large sink, a dishwasher, a large microwave and large oven. Although there are lots of great restaurants in town, because the weather was so spectacular this last trip and we had our dog with us, we decided to take full advantage of the largely unused rooftop deck with 180 degree panoramic views by staying in to watch sunset every night. At night, we grilled out on the deck (grocery store is literally 100 yards away or less) most nights and the other nights ordered from Door Dash (PIzzabar was amazing!) who brought everything right to our door. The place we rented has a full and a half bath. Shower is amazing! And they have a hot outdoor shower for when you come up from the beach and you and all your stuff are full on sand. The bed in our unit was pretty comfortable (even if a little creaky when you move around at night) and the pull out couch in the living room is beginning to look a bit dated. However, none of those things adversely impacted our trip. In fact, because we live only an hour a way and this is one of the few places in Laguna with a full kitchen and bbq where you can stay right on the water and bring your dog, we are actually planning to come more often now -- almost treating it like a timeshare. Part of what makes this place so easy is that they also have 2 washer/dryers available to customers. Finally, the hospitality was once again amazing!! Both times, Bianca and the cleaning staff were always extremely helpful and accommodating which made a great stay AMAZING!"

  • Nice little spot

"We two friends had a long weekend here to celebrate our mutual birthdays, a large round number and we'll leave it at that. Great location for beach and village access. Seal Beach retains its charm and all the little cottages have been updated. Super good vibe. I think the ice cream place was the only big chain restaurant on Main Street, which has many little shops and dining choices without being obnoxiously touristy. The home is small but very clean with a few vintage touches. Nice large deck just outside the door. Host was welcoming, attentive and accessible and provided a lot of information about area activities and restaurants. We couldn't find the pots and pans (tiny kitchen) but Kelly responded to our call right away and told us where to look (in the linen closet). What could be improved: larger beach towels and stronger wi-fi. But we had a great time and would recommend it."

  • Beautiful San Clemente

"This place is awesome. We were trying to plan a last minute getaway for 2 adults and 5 kids right before going back to school and we were very fortunate to find the listing on vrbo and the WesternWhiteHousessc web site. We spoke with Colby , the owner, and he'd just had a cancelation. We can't say enough about this experience and this property the pictures speak for themselves. What I can say that the pictures won't is that the family that owns this place is incredible. Colby was incredibile and accommodating -- the answer to all of our questions throughout the stay about where to eat what to do and a couple little items at the house they were easily explained. Colby came a couple times to service the pool and the gardening and one day even stopped by with wine and flowers to welcome us to his home. The view is incredible and the backyard is like your own little private paradise. The front yard is perfect for coffee and reading the newspaper (yes I still read my newspaper) and the neighbors are extremely friendly in a very upscale neighbor. The newest neighbor is the owner of SKULL CANDY and I'm fairly sure my children have spent enough with his company to help pay for his 3 million dollar home. The pool/spa/water-slide/waterfall combo was such a great time for all that even the adults couldn't stay out of the pool. There's a big built in bbq/countertop in the back yard, and a large open kitchen that we took advantage of daily and a brand new portable BBQ as back up or you could different types of meat on."
