  • Beautiful Cottage in Ideal Location

"We stayed for 5 nights with our two college-age boys and their girlfriends. The home is beautifully decorated and the location is in a quite neighborhood. Down the street two blocks (about a 2 min walk) are many good restaurants and coffee shops (both casual & fine dining). We enjoyed Shorehouse Kitchen for breakfast on several days. There are a number of nice outdoor cafes that are open late. The walk to the beach is another three blocks away. We walked to the beach every day we stayed. The rental house is located behind the owner's residence. There is a private walkway back to the house. Tall fences between the two homes help give the rental a very private feeling. There is a nice patio off the master and another patio with an outdoor table and BBQ. The interior of the home is very comfortable with new contemporary furnishings that provide a welcoming "beach cottage" feeling. The kitchen is well stocked. The beds were very comfortable. The house is air conditioned. The spacing of the bedrooms rooms gave everyone privacy. Although the home is not large, the layout worked very well for all of us and we never felt crowded. The two bathrooms each have a shower. Bring your own soap & shampoo. There were boogie boards and beach toys available to borrow, a small cart to haul toys to the beach, and plenty of beach towels available for use. A washer and dryer was handy for laundry. There is onsite parking for one vehicle, although we found that it was just as easy to park on the street. The La Jolla Shores beach is ideal, as it has long gentle rolling waves that make it easy to boogie board. The beach is long and not terribly crowded. There are many kayak and surfing vendors within walking distance if you choose to try that out. We made several trips to the La Jolla village area, which has a lot of high end shopping, restaurants, and the famous La Jolla Cove. The village is only 2-3 minutes away by car, but one could walk or bike there too. All in all, we had a great stay and were very pleased to have found this home."

  • Quaint & Charming Cottage by the Sea

"This cosy cottage is located just 2 minutes walk from Windansea beach and a 15 minute walk into central La Jolla. The cottage was nicely decorated and well laid out and had all the comforts of home, to include a very well equipped kitchen. I especially enjoyed the little decorative touches and the diffusers made the interior smell good. We stayed with our 2 boys (ages 11 and 14) who slept on the sofa bed (true to the property description was king size and very comfortable). Despite the close proximity to other homes it was very quiet. There was an off road parking space and a private patio. The agent Kathleen was there to greet us when we arrived and provide additional information about the area. The Cottage was very clean, there were plenty of towels, and all kitchen basics were provided. Especially loved that there were beach towels, beach chairs, umbrella and boogie boards provided which made our time on the beach much more enjoyable and is so very helpful when travelling from out of state. My only critic was that the bedroom has 2 skylights that do not have any window coverings (blinds) consequently as soon as the sun is up (around 6 am) the room is flooded with light, this is great if you are an early riser but not so much fun if you are trying to sleep in. I was able to resolve this with some eye shades but some kind of window covering would be ideal. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again."
