  • Perfect refuge

"Staying here was a perfect place to relax. The place was decorated as if it was your home. The bed was so comfortable. I had no demands put on me. I walked the shore, swam, sunned, read, and painted. My friends and family came to visit, have dinner, see the fireworks, and enjoy the beach. The owners are very friendly and helpful."

  • An excellent location on Mission Beach

"Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Beach location is as described. The apartment is behind the main house above a garage, so early rises can wake you with garage door openings & closings. The apt. was spotless, however the garage laundary area needs a major cleaning. The Management Co. responded quickly to a couple of minor issues & both the tradesmen & cleaning staff were excellent."

  • San Diego harbor at its best

"Very nice layout for up to 5 people, the size of our group. Very well equipped and maintained. Lots of walkers by patio we enjoyed. Only 1.5 balks to Pacific Beach. Parking slot a little tight but fine. Some noise in am from unit above-but not excessive. We used patio a lot. Master bedroom and bath very roomy. We would highly recommend. Great location to SeaWorld, Airport, LA Jolla etc. We would stay the next time for shure."

  • Just big enough for 4 people

"Our stay at Surf Rider was generally good. Centrally located on Mission Beach. We had 2 couples for our 3 night vacation here after a 4 night business trip elsewhere in the city. Kitchen provided everything we needed, although we only had coffee and breakfast there. Master bedroom and bath was a good size with adequate storage. The other bedroom was very tight with no drawers or hanging closet for storage. Fortunately, one person brought clothes on hangers and they both used the two narrow hanging shelves for hanging, along with folded clothes on the shelves. The closet in that room was a utility closet with no hanging bar. Bathroom in the hall for that room had no counter space to sit anything or hanging options. As stated years ago, PLEASE fix the sliding screen door! Just cleaning the track and a little WD40 might go a long way! Plus, there were no screens on the small bedroom and kitchen windows. With no air conditioning, it becomes very important to be able to open the sliding door and windows for ventilation. Also, if you are going to promote the view, it would be a good idea to clean the windows and clear rail facing the beach. The rolling blackout shades were not very clean and the living room one did not appear to have a cord so we rolled it manually. Please clean the cream pillows on the sofa. They are obviously dirty. Lock was tricky as previously reviewed but we figured it out. As someone stated in a previous review, some minor repairs and extra deep cleaning would elevate the space from good to exceptional. With all the rentals on the beach, the competition must be great. Never had any contact with the management of the property so have no comment on them. Key was obtained and returned in a lockbox. Not warm enough to use the hot tub so have no comment on that either."
