"Our first trip to California was truly wonderful. The condo was very nice and well equipped with everything you need. The only issue we had was there was a heatwave issued. For a few days the weather was unusually hot for this time of year and there is no air conditioning. We tried to leave the sliding doors open but bugs came in since there is no screen. We understood this was very unusual, however we did let the owner know and made the suggestion of installing a screen. She was a pleasure to deal with and answered emails very quickly. There was an odd smell coming from the sink and right away she sent someone over to address it while we were out. By the time we returned the smell was gone. The condo had all the essentials you needed to cook, if you chose to do so and also had really nice plush towels and beautiful bed linens. There was soap and shampoo in the bathroom and the kitchen also had dish soap, towels, nice dishes, utensils, pots and pans, etc.
The building has security which is very good. You have a designated parking space in the garage underneath the building. You need to use a key in the elevator to get to and from the garage to your floor. The storage unit in front of your space has a combination lock and inside the unit are boogie boards, 2 beach chairs, 2 cruiser bikes, and a beach umbrella. The units can use a little updating, however they do the job they are meant to do. Once outside the unit you are literally steps from the water. There is a really nice path that goes around the bay where you can bike, walk or jog. The Catamaran Resort is a short walk from the condo and they have a riverboat called the Bahia Belle which for $10 per person will take you around the bay. Check out www.bahiabelle.com for schedule and events. On Friday night there was a live band. Sometimes at night people would bring their beach chairs down by the water and build a small fire.
You can't ask for a better location as it is very close to all the major attractions, Seaworld, downtown, Gaslamp district, the zoo and Balboa Park. It is much nicer and quieter to stay here than near the ocean but is close enough to bike, walk or drive to it. The balcony is good for relaxing with a glass of wine and enjoying the beautiful view and people watching."
