  • Great find

"We spent 10 days at this house over the holidays. It was a good space for 4 people. The bedrooms were large, clean and enough space in the living room to entertain some friends. There was also a large enclosed patio out back for morning coffee when the weather permitted. The only part that didn't meet expectation was the front porch. It has a nice view and room for sitting but the porch furniture was shoddy and worn. Definitely a good value for the money."

  • Worth the cost if noise is not a major concern.

"Pros: Nicely decorated and charming inside an out. Has a cozy, comfortable look and feels and is fairly priced. Central location close to Little Italy and Balboa Park. Cons: Be advised that you do not get the whole house; only the first level is included in this listing. There are two apartments upstairs and you can hear footsteps when the tenants are moving about. Also, the yard is a common area used by all the inhabitants. The noise from the planes overhead is very loud and frequent at times and although is fine for some, for others it may be difficult to adapt and may be quite a nuisance. It can be difficult at times to find a parking space nearby. Be aware that the police are very aggressive about giving parking tickets for not properly "cramping" the automobile wheels. The second bathroom is minuscule and more like a European style water-closet. On balance, we had a pleasant vacation, not withstanding the noise issue. The cost is reasonable considering the quality of the home and would be much higher if not on the landing path of Lindbergh Field. However, prospective renters should consider whether the relatively low cost is worth putting up with noise if they are a light sleeper."

  • Great location, Close to Everything!

"We just returned from five days here, and we had a wonderful time! The home was just as pictured (aside from there being a washer/drier in the space at the end of the kitchen). The beds were very comfortable, and we all slept great! We were pleasantly surprised to find a pack and play, portable high chair, lots of beach toys, and beach towels in storage. It is in a historic district, and there are little friendly suggestion notes on the walls about water usage, as well as requests to keep it down after 9pm (which wasn't a problem for us, as our kids go to bed by 8pm). It is very close to the airport, and the planes fly right over the deck, which was great fun for our little boys, ages 5 and 3. With the windows closed at night, this didn't cause any issues with sound, however. We all slept great! The place is a 10-15 minute drive to most attractions in San Diego, which was a huge plus for us. We had no issues whatsoever finding the place (with GPS, of course), although we did occasionally have to circle the block a time or two to find a place to park - especially on the weekends. We always found something within a block, but when they note that parking is first-come, first-serve, it's unlikely there's much more than one space available most of the time. Very minor inconveniences to us were the length of the door lock code (9 digits), which we had to look up on our phones every time we wanted to get inside. Also, there were very very few kitchen towels (only 2 that we could find). We ended up eating out a lot, being on vacation and all, but I typically cook a lot, and if I had decided to do so on this trip, we would have had to do at least 2 loads of laundry to get through the week. There were also no dish cloths (although there was a brush) that we could find, which we usually would use to wipe down surfaces. Overall, this was a really great property for us, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there! We would definitely recommend it!"

  • Lovely and well situated

"Always a pleasure to stay here. The apartment is well appointed and the location is great. It is a rare gem near great neighborhood restaurants and all that Balboa Park has to offer. Being near both I5 and 163 freeways makes it easy to get to the beaches."
