  • Wonderful Family Reunion with endless views!

"Our group of 17 more than comfortably stayed in the Villa Mar Vista house (we rented the Casita as well) and had a fantastic time. The home is well appointed with everything you could possibly need, and it was clean, spacious, and open. Loved having two large tables, as well as a large island for playing games, eating, talking and just kicking back and having fun. We were there for my mother--in-law's 88 birthday celebration, and it was just perfect for our large group. We loved playing badminton in the large backyard, had some wild games of ping pong, and relaxed in the Jacuzzi. I think most of our favorite spot was on the beautiful deck in the front yard just a few feet from the cliffs. From roasting marshmallows, sitting by the fire, watching the sunsets, and enjoying the sights and sounds of the ocean - we could have stayed there and never left! Joseph was very always helpful and accommodating to us, and we appreciate how he and his staff made the whole rental process easy from beginning to end. So hoping we get to experience this peaceful retreat in the future! Oh, another asset was that most of the interior and the whole exterior of the house was wheelchair accessible!! My only area for us that wasn't was the toilet in the accessible bathroom...the wheelchair could not get by the vanity to use the toilets. But, we just used the large front bathroom for his needs. Just a very minor glitch which certainly did not put a damper on our fabulous vacation!"

  • Excellent home, but we had some issues with the hot tub and pool.

"This home is amazing and it's location along the cliffs is wonderful as joggers go by, surfers surf, dog walkers walk, etc. The location and home are amazing. You will love it. =) There is plenty of space and all beds are queen size or larger, the linens are good, it is a nice home. We truly appreciated having our family get-together there and feel grateful to the home owner for that. It was expensive at 10.5k for the week, but well worth it. We did run into an issue with the hot tub and pool. After 3 days the hot tub got a nasty film over the top surface area of the water. I didn't think anything of it as children were at play in and out with sunscreen on. We called the pool man to come and drain it and clean it. He was super wonderful and did so even on a Sunday evening. Really nice! Everything back to normal, right? Well the next day many of us started showing signs of hot tub folliculitis. I had never heard of it, but 8 out of 10 got it and we all got prescribed antibiotics. The two not affected by it didn't go into the hot tub. Evidently a certain bacteria can grow when there is not enough chlorine in the water. So this might have been a culprit in the scum that evolved and not just sun screen. I imagine this is a one off situation and not typical at all. The home owner assured me that no one else had ever had that experience. So it was just the luck of the draw that week. We still remained grateful and respectful and placed no blame. Sometimes this stuff happens. No one lost an arm or leg so all was fine. At some point I wanted to swim laps in the pool and removed the pool sweep. It is a small pool and hard to do laps with the sweep in. Evidently doing so brings air into the pump and causes the pump to burn out. The total cost to replace this was $1400. I did end up paying for the replacement of the pump with the 1k deposit. The home owner actually paid for the remaining $400. I did offer to cover that too, but he insisted on taking care of it. I felt so bad as I know this also cost him time, worry, and his next guests had a time delay in utilizing the pool. Yuck! We tried to be gracious and considerate and over looked the hot tub issue and then took full responsibility for the pool pump and tried to right a wrong. However, I did get a negative review on VRBO. Truly I hope this is unusual too. We hope you love your stay and all goes well. Truly a beautiful place. Before we left from our 7-day stay"

  • The most perfect little California vacation home!

"We absolutely loved everything about our stay here. Lisa's home felt like "home" away from home, it's adorable, spacious, clean and comfortable- not to mention a few blocks from the gorgeous cliffs and sunset views. We travelled from the east coast and wanted a place that family and friends could come to us (we had a 2.5 month old with us) - and this house exceeded expectations- Barbi runs the cleaning and concierge and she was so lovely - having travelled with a newborn cross country we were hoping to get checked in and settled earlier than the check in time and she went above and beyond to help us with that- she also had a ton of great recommendations for us in the area. We were so sad to leave this little oasis- already plotting our return trip!"

  • Great location, great views

"The home is ideally located and close to so many venues. The ocean views are a big plus. The short walk to the ocean is great. Our family of three adults and two children were very comfortable with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The house is in a nice neighborhood and is well supplied with linens and kitchen items. I highly recommend it."
