  • So close to everything!

"We have been vacationing in SD for the past 12 years, the last 10 of which we camped. After our stay here I don't see camping in SD in my future. I was very skeptical about renting someone's house but, the Hohe's made everything so easy. Our request for reservations was answered the same day and any questions or concerns I had were promptly addressed. The home has had a lot of updating and they recently installed air conditioning for their guest's comfort. We didn't use it once! We just left the windows open and let the breeze come in. The ability to hear the ocean from the home was also a big plus. The fridge and cupboards are stocked with several items but there are so many fantastic places to eat within a 5 min walk or short bike ride. If you like fish tacos and civiche you need to try Oscars on Emerald. My new fav place for fish tacos! Outside there is a huge shed with everything you would ever need for your beach vacation. Chairs, umbrellas, sand toys, boogie boards, surf boards and a wagon to haul it all in. There's several bikes with locks and also helmets. Really. You don't need to bring a thing! There's even beach towels in the house. Steve and Karron are wonderful people. If you need anything they are there to help. Even with surfing tips! Their place is perfect and we've already been making plans for next year! The only bad thing I can say about Hohe House is that it's not mine! P.S. Saved and image of our dogs in profile pic for you. Hope it saved properly and is large enough to see them."

  • An enjoyable time with extended family

"The house was great for our whole family from 10 months to 87 years old. The ocean surf breaking on the rocks in front on the house was incredible. The inside and outside seating was enough for our visiting family as well. Very clean and the baby high chair and pack and plays were nice. The ocean was enjoyable and the sunsets great. Missed a big sandy beach in front of the house. The downstairs bedrooms were a bit disconnected from the living area. The traffic in front of the house required close attention to the smaller kids."

  • Excellent view and access to beach!

"This was a great house for my whole family to get together. We spent a week here and found the house very comfortable and the deck is fantastic! The house is a bit run down, but it really doesn't matter with a view and deck like this one! Very roomy - big enough for myself/husband/4 kids and two of their friends and it didn't feel crowded at all! It was so nice to be able to cook at our own "home" at the beach - and great grill! We walked everywhere and hardly had to drive ever (just to get groceries). Pappy's market is so close and easy to walk to if you forgot something at the store. Jake met us at the house and was very friendly and answered any questions we had (even via text) and the owners are really nice people. Go to the Thursday farmers market and evening fair - wonderful! I would have given this house a 5, but it is an older home that could use updates. The price was very reasonable - I would go back to this house and I highly recommend it!"

  • Wonderful stay

"We had a wonderful stay at this apartment. It was in a nice neighborhood and very close to Balboa Park. I've never been to San Diego before and so we had fun driving around all the neighborhoods. It is such a fun city. The apartment was very clean and was a great fit for our family of four (kids aged 2 and 6). The owners live in the main house but we only ran into one of them once and he was very kind. We made good use of just about everything in the apartment. It was well stocked and we found a Vons nearby to stock up on snacks and groceries for picnic lunches throughout the week. We didn't do much cooking, but the apartment kitchen seemed well appointed for doing so. The only item I missed in this VRBO was a book or binder with restaurant recommendations in it (either from the owner or other guests). That's something we always rely heavily on when exploring new cities because we like to eat only at places we don't have at home. Overall this was a fantastic rental that I would recommend to friends. Very straightforward and no nonsense. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!"
