  • Charming Home

"We stayed in Mill Valley during Thanksgiving week and it was a lovely experience. We arrived and the house was immaculate . The owner left us a bottle of wine and a detailed note including restaurants in the area, hikes, and shopping suggestions. The kitchen is well appointed and so convenient to cook in. The grounds are spectacular and the views are stunning from every room in the house. It is a short walk to town.Fabulous location to get almost anywhere in the bay area. Great time had by all of us."

  • A beautiful cottage to relax and enjoy the wonders of forested nature

"My 21-year-old son and I rented this forested cottage. We stayed there early January and even though it was a time of rains and wind, that didn't deter us from hiking to the top of Mount Tamalpais. We enjoyed hiking in those storms while getting thoroughly wet, as we knew that we would get dry and warm when we got back to the cottage. The odds are you would find little or no rain in the area, especially in the summer. I found the cottage very comfortable, inviting: well decorated and furnished. The VRBO photos give a good idea of what to expect inside the cottage and the view from the deck. However, they can't convey the beauty of the forested natural area surrounding the cottage. Just a few minutes walking upslope from the cottage is Mt. Tamalpais State Park and trails that go to Muir Woods, Stinson Beach, the mountain peaks, the watersheds to the north of the mountain and many other destinations. This uninhabited wilderness parkland is spectacularly beautiful and extensive. You could easily hike 7 or 8 miles without encountering a private residence, perhaps a ranger station. However, walking 20 minutes downslope from the cottage is downtown Mill Valley, which is very attractive with its restaurants and shops, not to mention its library in a redwood park. I realize not everyone loves hiking. I found that just relaxing on the sofa reading a novel was very restful too. The next time I rent this cottage will probably be in the spring or fall with my wife, who is a biologist, hiker and nature lover. At that time, we could also relax on the deck taking in the forest smells and bird songs, as well as the long forest views."

  • Still love the "treehouse" in Mill Valley

"This was our 3rd stay and we still love being in the midst of the redwoods and yet only a 2-minute stroll from downtown Mill Valley. Despite the rainy weather, we were cosy. We didn't cook our Thanksgiving dinner at the house, but did manage a couple of contributions - a pie and the cranberry sauce. Sally and Michael are so accommodating - we feel very welcome."
