  • A Relaxing Weekend in Oakland.....

"In April of this year I was searching for a place to spend 4 days up in the Oakland area to visit my brother. I searched several properties and several websites, until I found Claudine’s house up in the Oakland hills. Claudine lived in the lower part of the house and I only saw her one time when I was there. She was a very helpful landlord and provided lots of information. When we arrived and walking into the house I was blown away how nice it was and how it had everything we needed. I walked into the house and it was very elegantly decorated house, with several nice pieces of art. I will give a word of warning; this house is not for families with small children…. There are so many things that a small child can break. This house is ideal for adults or teenagers. The view from the balcony and living room, on a clear day was incredible. It was a million dollar view, and it beats any hotel I have stayed at in the bay area. Unfortunately, on the 2nd and 3rd day a storm was rolling in and our million dollar view was overcast and foggy. I am glad I had a GPS unit, because the road going up the hill is winding and can be confusing at times. There are several places to eat and shop at the bottom of the hill, and it was a quick drive down to get dinner and groceries. The house had everything we could ever need. The kitchen was fully stocked and all of the appliances were in good working order. The washer and dryer were handy and we used it a few times. The kitchen was cozy and having a morning cup of coffee looking out at the bay was very nice. This was a perfect home base to plan several trips to San Francisco and around Oakland. It was close to a BART station, which make our trip to AT&T Park great.. GO DODGERS…!!!!! I would highly recommend this place."

  • Home away from home

"Really appreciated the welcoming touches such as the banana bread, parking and the short walk to the beach and Trader Joe's. We were on a road trip from Vancouver and the apartment was a lovely home away from home after camping our way to Alameda. Very clean and comfortable; also, I tend to cook to avoid expensive restaurants when travelling with my kids, so I appreciated the well-stocked kitchen. I also felt the area was very safe which was important when travelling with pre-teen and teen girls. We were primarily visiting San Francisco and took the ferry each day which adds up when you are 5, if you are looking to keep down costs, take this into consideration. I felt it was worth it (places in San Fran were much more expensive) and I rather enjoyed the short ferry ride at the start and finish of our sightseeing days. Thank you so much, Betty! I would happily stay again and recommend to friends."

  • Fabulous Find!

"Here’s the bottom line: We booked our next stay in Arun and Suzy’s apartment when we were just halfway through our first (month-long) visit. The apartment is spacious, comfortable, immaculate, and exactly as pictured and described on the website. It has an excellent kitchen for those who want to cook. There are two decks, and views of the Bay to the west, the Berkeley Hills to the east, and downtown Oakland to the south. And the windows overlook Suzy’s beautiful garden. The location can’t be beat. Situated between Solano and the Gourmet Ghetto (on Shattuck), the apartment is within walking distance of at least three first-class restaurants; ethnic food of every description; and a wonderful little tacqueria (Cactus, on Solano). Also the Monterey Market, the Monterey Fish Market, and a good wine shop beside them. Also supermarkets; new and used bookstores; ATM; and even a nice little gym. Easy on-street parking. But you don’t really need a car, unless you want to leave the Bay Area, since it’s only a twenty-minute walk to the North Berkeley BART station. Arun and Suzy, who live downstairs, couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful, from our first dealings to our departure."
