  • Beautiful, quiet home away from home

"Our family (4 adults and 2 children) stayed for five nights in this absolutely beautiful home in Berkeley. I knew that the accommodations were adequate for our crowd, but had no idea that this home was so lovely. We were out doing things during most of our stay so didn't take much advantage of the patio, and gardens, but certainly enjoyed the scenery. The kitchen seemed very adequately stocked with equipment, but we did not cook. With two children, we did appreciate the washer and dryer however. There were places to eat within walking distance. We had a car available, altho we also took BART into San Francisco. In sum, we were very pleased by this rental, would gladly stay there again, and would certainly recommend it to others."

  • Excellent Vacation Rental

"We stayed at the Boxwood House for 10 days and thoroughly enjoyed it. The entire apartment was clean, well-furnished and comfortable. Marti and Paige were very welcoming and helpful in every area. The ferry is conveniently located for traveling to San Francisco and avoiding heavy traffic. We highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced, safe and comfortable accommodation while in the San Francisco Bay area."

  • Great place for family and friends to spend time

"We stayed recently at the Mitchell House. It was beautiful inside and out. Very high ceilings. It’s centrally located - easy to get to the North Berkeley BART into the city or by car. Fourth Street is a short walk and has wonderful restaurants and shops. I loved the miniatures store and the Japanese paper boutique. The yard at the house is huge and a welcome oasis after busy sightseeing. We had several BBQs in the backyard at the large outdoor table. The kids adored the sandbox, the frog statues and big lawn. There is wifi, a large flat screen TV, updated kitchen and baths and the beds were incredibly comfy. We ended up having friends come here rather than meeting elsewhere. I liked the convenient laminated cards with instructions and information. When we needed help recording a movie, we called the numbers and the owners responded right away. When we mentioned the blender was weak and were making smoothies, they bought us a new one and brought it over. They also shared recommendations on restaurants and things to do with kids. Very helpful. It’s nice to stay in a period house like this with beautiful craftsmanship that’s been maintained. A unique and memorable place – we will definitely come back!"

  • Just as we remembered from our first stay!

"5 years since our first stay here in Gillians "flat", just as we remembered it, the same warm welcome, clean spacious rooms and of course the spectacular view over SF bay and Golden Gate Bridge. Very comfortable for 2 couples with 2 separate en-suite bedrooms, 2 living rooms, a laundry room, workable kitchen, separate "office space" and off-street safe parking right outside the house. You definitely need a car here because all is uphill, though short distances to nearby food stores, Berkely and the BART-train station into SF. Highly recommended to anyone wanting a relaxing non-hotell stay in the Bay-area. Thanks Gillian, we give you 10 out of 10 and hope to be back for a third visit sometime in the future!
