  • Beautiful property, great for families, not entirely secluded

"The house is amazing. The pictures don't do it justice. It is located on the top of a mountain overlooking all of the Redwoods in the Santa Cruz mountains. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. The pool and gazebo in the picture are located down a steep hill. You have to pack your belongings for the day in a car and drive them down a steep hill if you want to lie by the pool. The pool is very secluded and there is a bathroom and an awesome little shack with a bar type situation to use for the day, so once you bring your belongings down the hill it's fine. It's just a little tedious if you leave things in the main house to have to drive back and forth up the hill. Also worth noting is there is another house (not pictured) roughly the length of a basketball court from the house. They didn't bother us, but we weren't as secluded as we hoped. The owner made it clear that we could not be loud outside after dark, or the police could come. Kind of bummed because we were hoping to listen to music in the hot tub after dark, but we were made to feel we couldn't really do this or we'd get into trouble. We just hung out outside without music, so it was fine. I'd definitely come back again for a chill weekend."

  • Beautiful Secluded Beach Spot!

"I LOVE the location of this property!!! The location itself deserves 5/5 stars The views from both living/family rooms, decks & master bedroom were magnificent! We were grateful for its private stair rail to the beach. The beach was closed off by large rocks to the left of the property so the kids could play without any interruption or wander off. It was the perfect secluded location we were looking for!! Other positives: plenty of space for a family of 6, comfortable master bed, plenty of linen, well stocked kitchen, easy 25 minute drive north to Safeway (Half Moon Bay), 5 minute drive to local Pescadero small shops and yummy restaurants. My reasons for 4/5 stars: (Had I known or inquired beforehand, we could've been better prepared). *When we first entered the house, it smelled old, like it had been empty for awhile. Fortunately, I had packed a favorite Bath & Body candle. After a few hours or burning and having all the windows open, the smell went away. *No washer and dryer. That's a little difficult with little ones. I couldn't find a laundromat nearby either. *The house Mifi had limited data and didn't allow for much streaming of kids' movies. The beach was wonderful all day but in the evening, we would've preferred to stream our own movies and we couldn't. The kids did watch 2 DVDs that the owner provided. *The first bedroom on the bottom floor had large cobwebs in the top corner. The blanket in the upstairs bedroom was dirty. *A few windows were missing screens. It would've been nice to have beach chairs or beach toys. I made the mistake of assuming there would be. Again, had I asked more questions, I would've been better informed and packed accordingly. Overall, we are grateful for our time here and would probably rent here again! Cheers!"

  • Wonderful Stay - I cannot wait to come back

"This cottage, property and town are all terrific. The cottage is tiny, sweet and perfect for two people. The garden is full of delightful details and was a joy to wander around. The town of Pescadero is less than a 5 minute stroll, and a great place to wander about for an hour or two. Just beware they roll up the sidewalks early. Even on a Saturday night, the restaurants were closed and locked up for the night by 9pm. Which is fine for a mellow get away on the coast. We did not bike while there, but given the amount of bicyclist and motorcyclist in town, there must be some amazing rides right out the cottage's doorstep. I cannot wait to book my next weekend get away at My Blue Heaven!"
