  • Home away from home

"My 10yo son and I stayed in Mark and Judi's studio for 2 weeks while we attended the Anat Baniel Centre in San Rafael. What a beautiful spot, with views over the valley behind and lovely walks just up the road. Everything we needed and more was provided and our hosts were lovely - even giving my son some books for the plane ride home. And the banana bread...mmmmm. The separate kitchen was brilliant and had everything we needed. Same with the bathroom; even down to a hair curler! There was plenty of tourist information available and books and games for quiet afternoons. Thanks Mark and Judi for making our stay so easy and enjoyable. I hope we have the chance to come again."

  • The property was beautiful. It looked just like the pictures. Very comfortable.

"Britgitta and Ed were wonderful hosts. They greeted us when we arrived and gave us a tour of the property which was absolutely beautiful. We felt so lucky to be staying at their scenic estate. The apartment was very comfortable, roomy and nicely secluded. It was very peaceful and the gardens were amazing. They had provided everything you could possibly need in the way of toiletries, kitchen utensils, paper products etc. It's was so nice to not have to think about any of those details. The sofas are down filled and sooo comfortable. They set up a fold away bed for our son and he was in heaven! So comfortable. They even had a bottle of wine chilling and a nice plate of fruit when we arrived. That's how they are--excellent attention to detail. The bed was so comfortable and had a big fluffy down comforter so we could sleep with the sliding doors open. I look forward to staying there again when we are in the Bay area next time. The pool was not heated when we got there but I'm sure they would have turned it on had we asked. We were just so busy sight seeing and visiting family that we really didn't have time to use it."

  • We hope to make this a family tradition!

"My family of four just spent the Christmas holidays at this charming, wonderful house. And even though it rained almost every day of our visit, the weather could not put a damper on our trip, largely because we absolutely loved staying in this house. (My husband joked that he hoped the owners wouldn't mind a lodger... because he was not planning to leave). The owners opened their home to us as if we were their close friends. And my daughter was so inspired by their art that she came home and tried to replicate it. More than anything, though, we just knew that we were staying in the home of a happy, warm family (odd as that sounds given that we never met them!). I am a Bay Area native and know Marin County well. You cannot beat the location for a true "Marin" experience: close to the city, but an absolute retreat. Best things: the views at sunrise and sunset; their extensive, interesting library and art collection; relaxing in the hot tub on a rainy evening; driving the "back way" to Pt. Reyes. Also, the proximity to open space trails means you can hike in the morning with views of the SF skyline and the East Bay, then make into the city for lunch in Chinatown. The neighborhood is great for running, too. Truly, this house (and its location) exceeded our expectations."

  • Fantastic private cottage

"I stayed at the Honey Bee with my three year old son earlier this month and had a completely wonderful experience. The cottage is private and very well appointed. We were here for a week in early July and some days were quite warm, but the large ceiling fans kept both the living space and bedroom very comfortable and we both slept very well here. I was a little worried we would be living on top of one another while we shared a one bedroom, but that wasn't the case at all. It is well thought out and there was plenty of room for my son to play and for my parents to come over to visit. We also really enjoyed the several sitting areas in the gardens -the gardens are great! We enjoyed the shade of the beautiful fig trees and really enjoyed watching the bees do their work. The owners were extremely accommodating and welcoming, and overall we had a very relaxing stay here. I love this area and this was great neighborhood, very quiet and peaceful. Thank you for letting us create memories of a great trip home at the Honey Bee. We loved it!"
