  • Will definitely stay here again!

"My family and I recently spent 5 nights in this house while visiting San Rafael on holiday. This house is really perfect for an easy visit, and MUCH better than a hotel! Before we arrived, we had clear instructions for how to find the house and how to get in; once in, there was a binder with great information about the area. The house was extremely clean, in very good condition and the kitchen was amazing- very well stocked so we could cook meals easily for our kids. The location is fantastic- easy to get to a lot of places and in a very safe and friendly neighourhood. There is a parking space for guests and laundry downstairs. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in town for a visit."

  • Tranquil getaway

"Our Family spent 12 days in the San Francisco area and happily we spent our first few days here in San Rafael. It was such an ordeal trying to find a place until our cousin told us to try VRBO. I did and came upon this gem. It was the first time my husband tried accommodations like this so I was very hopeful he would be pleased. He was! I also was pleased. Mark was very nice and helpful thru the whole process. I know I asked a lot of questions and he was very patient with me. The "Cottage" as they call it is attached to the main home but does have a separate entrance. So you feel as though it's your own little apartment. They had everything you would need and the bath soaps were lovely. The beds were comfy and the linens clean and soft. The View was so beautiful. It was the best view we had thru the whole trip next to "Half Dome" in Yosemite. And after our long days of adventure in San Francisco it was good to come back to the comforts of our cottage in the hills. Our sons goal was to swim in the pool but only had the opportunity to do so on our last day, only because we were busy every other day. It is a bit of a ways up to the property but once there, it is quiet and peaceful. The town below has some great restaurants our favorite was "Teresa's and Johnny's" on 4th st. Mark was also very kind to send out by mail our sons charger for his laptop that he had left behind. It was unfortunate I didn't meet Judi on our trip but perhaps the next time we come thru town. I would recommend this rental highly you cant go wrong, hope your travels are happy ones."

  • We hope to make this a family tradition!

"My family of four just spent the Christmas holidays at this charming, wonderful house. And even though it rained almost every day of our visit, the weather could not put a damper on our trip, largely because we absolutely loved staying in this house. (My husband joked that he hoped the owners wouldn't mind a lodger... because he was not planning to leave). The owners opened their home to us as if we were their close friends. And my daughter was so inspired by their art that she came home and tried to replicate it. More than anything, though, we just knew that we were staying in the home of a happy, warm family (odd as that sounds given that we never met them!). I am a Bay Area native and know Marin County well. You cannot beat the location for a true "Marin" experience: close to the city, but an absolute retreat. Best things: the views at sunrise and sunset; their extensive, interesting library and art collection; relaxing in the hot tub on a rainy evening; driving the "back way" to Pt. Reyes. Also, the proximity to open space trails means you can hike in the morning with views of the SF skyline and the East Bay, then make into the city for lunch in Chinatown. The neighborhood is great for running, too. Truly, this house (and its location) exceeded our expectations."

  • Over the top!

"I cannot say enough about this beautiful property. The accommodations were far beyond any expectations and the gardens are absolutely lovely. The owners are two of the most wonderful people on the face of the earth and go out of their way to make you feel special. The location is perfect, with very easy access to all the area activities. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub after a long day of cycling the many picturesque roads nearby. We will miss the stellar hosts and can't wait until we can return!"
