  • I love Stinson Beach and this charming cottage!

"My adult daughter and I stayed here for two nights to explore the coast before heading into the hills of wine country. This place really felt like home. The beds were quite comfy, and the kitchen was great! I am a chef, so know my way around a kitchen. LOL! However, other than breakfast, we really didn't cook because that was why I was on vacation - to let someone else cook for me. The little town of Stinson Beach is quite small, and has a tiny grocery store, but we were surprised at the quality way it was stocked! It seriously looked about the size of a gas station convenience store, but was so wonderful. Guacamole and salsa were stellar as were organic cheeses and produce! The cottage is a very short walk down a cute little path to the beach, and of course close to town. We had such an incredible dinner at the Parkside Cafe, we went back for breakfast! It was also fantastic. As we explored the coast, we stopped at a place right on the highway just north of Stinson Beach, called Tony's. Oysters Bingo might be the best oyster dish I have ever had in my life. It was their version of Oysters Rockefeller and simply delicious. Their shrimp and crab ceviche was unique in presentation and also yummy. Crab was in season, so one day we ate it for breakfast, lunch and dinner! I would definitely stay here again. The location is perfect for someone who doesn't wish to stay right in San Francisco, but wants to explore Muir Woods, and the charming coastal towns like Bolinas."

  • Great Winter Getaway!

"Great Winter Getaway! This is not one of the tony luxury homes at Stinson Beach. It's more than that, mainly because of its location and history. Beyond 100 years old, this cottage started life as the office for tent camping at Willow Camp, which is what Stinson Beach was called a century or so ago, before it became Stinson Beach and before there was a road in. So the old dowager can be forgiven if her floors are a bit uneven and her layout just slightly odd compared with the mansions nearby. There's a photo of her in her youth, in 1912, on the wall near the kitchen. She is still a perfect place for a couple or two couples or a couple with a kid or two and a kid's friend or two to spend a weekend, or a week or whatever … the kitchen and dining area are well appointed, there's a great king-sized platform bed in one corner of the living room, and two double beds in the back bedroom. Assorted love seats and chairs add comfort. Best of all, it's just steps from the beach itself and just a bit over a quarter-mile from the main intersection in town and the grocery store, several restaurants, a jewelry shop, an antique store, an art gallery, a fine little book shop, and other diversions. In the back yard there's a separate viewing deck that gives a great beach view and is the perfect place to sit for wine hour and watch the sunset. The front porch also offers a view of a chunk of beach and of Calle del Sierra from entrance to end. There's a hot tub and assorted beach toys for folks to enjoy. In short, the cottage is comfy and cozy and not so richly appointed that you'll fret overly about the kids causing minor damage. We found it the perfect winter getaway. In winter, there aren't that many folks out and about, except maybe on weekends. You can take long beach walks and/or just sit and enjoy the constantly changing weather. Turn up the heaters if it's cold, leave the door open if it's not. If you are brave and skilled enough, surf, boogie-board or bodysurf the big winter waves but look out for debris when the tide is way up. Bored? Visit picturesque nearby Bolinas or Pt. Reyes Seashore or drive up to Pt. Reyes Station. Or do what we did one evening: play Charades and Scrabble! Definitely our kind of place, we can hardly wait to go back!"

  • Thanksgiving stay

"We stayed at this beach house for a week at Thanksgiving. We are a family of 4, with 2 daughters aged 8 and 10, a small dog, and my parents came and joined us for a couple of nights. The house was perfect. We had very cold weather during our stay and King tides, so I was grateful for the fabulous fires, which heated the house within minutes. I also appreciated the location, being not right on the beach. It was close enough for our kids to walk down and hang out playing in the sand on their own, but away from the king tide that hit. We could also walk into Stinson for dinner, to the well stocked shop or for a coffee and to potter around. The house looks small from the outside, but inside it was perfect for our family and the outdoor area would be great in warmer weather. Our girls loved being in the shared room, with day beds and their own TV. My husband had to work during our stay and he called Karen about internet access and she responded immediately and an engineer was at the house the same day. That is better service than we get at home! This is our third year spending Thanksgiving at the beach and this has been my favourite property by far. It was clean, well furnished, cozy and quaint, but with the feeling it is well maintained and cared for. On asking my daughter what she liked about the house she said ' It felt like home'. A much praised comment indeed."

  • A lovely private cottage nestled in the hills above Stinson Beach. We had a perfect two day visit.

"Charming clean with lovely simple decor and comfortable furniture. The flagstone walkways gorgeous bougainvillea and outdoor fire pit added to cozy feeling of complete privacy. A jewel of a place overlooking the ocean. So quiet at night. I've not slept so well in a long time."
