  • I love Stinson Beach and this charming cottage!

"My adult daughter and I stayed here for two nights to explore the coast before heading into the hills of wine country. This place really felt like home. The beds were quite comfy, and the kitchen was great! I am a chef, so know my way around a kitchen. LOL! However, other than breakfast, we really didn't cook because that was why I was on vacation - to let someone else cook for me. The little town of Stinson Beach is quite small, and has a tiny grocery store, but we were surprised at the quality way it was stocked! It seriously looked about the size of a gas station convenience store, but was so wonderful. Guacamole and salsa were stellar as were organic cheeses and produce! The cottage is a very short walk down a cute little path to the beach, and of course close to town. We had such an incredible dinner at the Parkside Cafe, we went back for breakfast! It was also fantastic. As we explored the coast, we stopped at a place right on the highway just north of Stinson Beach, called Tony's. Oysters Bingo might be the best oyster dish I have ever had in my life. It was their version of Oysters Rockefeller and simply delicious. Their shrimp and crab ceviche was unique in presentation and also yummy. Crab was in season, so one day we ate it for breakfast, lunch and dinner! I would definitely stay here again. The location is perfect for someone who doesn't wish to stay right in San Francisco, but wants to explore Muir Woods, and the charming coastal towns like Bolinas."

  • Seaside Paradise

"First, the ocean beckons as you turn down the lane. Then, when you step through The Little Whaler's gate, you'll catch the waves whispering: "You're here". Next - just lift the latch, and the dearest little cottage-by-the-sea opens its arms and fairly sings "Welcome Home"! "Charming perfection" is not an exaggeration. Every square inch is exactly what I'd do, if this was my beach home (and if I'd thought of it.) We felt like pampered house guests, enjoying the owner's creative and solicitous hospitality - almost too relaxed to leave our private paradise. But one should adventure into the historic and engaging small town, at least for the incredible breakfasts and enchanting book store. The Little Whaler is a big hit with us! Can't wait to return."

  • Comfortable cottage close to town

"My wife and I spent two nights in this comfortable cottage while hiking Mt. Tam. It is accurately described in the listing. The house is easily accessible by foot (if you don't mind climbing a hill) from the village of Stinson Beach (market, shops, restaurants, beach). While it is an older home it is very clean, with updated kitchen and bath. Very comfortable living room well furnished. There is a TV monitor and DVD but no cable or TV reception. We enjoyed the quiet. If you are desperate for the daily blab bring your Iphone --- there is Apple TV. The kitchen appears to be well-equipped, although admittedly we did not cook. King Size bed in master bedroom very comfortable. Plenty of linens and towels. The "bonus room" is appropriate for children or close family. It is necessary to walk through the bonus room to get to the bathroom from the master bedroom or the living room. After our hikes we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub, which is shielded enough from neighbors to be clothing optional. We would definitely return here again and recommend without reservation to our friends, even if the two motels in Stinson weren't such dumps."

  • Thanksgiving stay

"We stayed at this beach house for a week at Thanksgiving. We are a family of 4, with 2 daughters aged 8 and 10, a small dog, and my parents came and joined us for a couple of nights. The house was perfect. We had very cold weather during our stay and King tides, so I was grateful for the fabulous fires, which heated the house within minutes. I also appreciated the location, being not right on the beach. It was close enough for our kids to walk down and hang out playing in the sand on their own, but away from the king tide that hit. We could also walk into Stinson for dinner, to the well stocked shop or for a coffee and to potter around. The house looks small from the outside, but inside it was perfect for our family and the outdoor area would be great in warmer weather. Our girls loved being in the shared room, with day beds and their own TV. My husband had to work during our stay and he called Karen about internet access and she responded immediately and an engineer was at the house the same day. That is better service than we get at home! This is our third year spending Thanksgiving at the beach and this has been my favourite property by far. It was clean, well furnished, cozy and quaint, but with the feeling it is well maintained and cared for. On asking my daughter what she liked about the house she said ' It felt like home'. A much praised comment indeed."
