  • Amazing riverfront stay in a charming Gold Rush-era cabin

"We had a wonderful, relaxing stay at the Miner's Cabin. Heidi and Steph were great hosts. They were easy to reach before our trip when we had questions or asked for recommendations, but during our stay, our privacy was completely respected. The cabin itself was rustic and full of charm, but fairly well-stocked. We imagined what the cabin must've been like before it was restored – How many miners would live here? Where did they sleep? These days, it's a great retreat for those who don't expect an immaculate, luxurious, tech-enabled hotel stay when they're out in the woods. That means small, creative spaces (a shower and toilet sharing the same space -- no sink; a steep ladder to a lofted bed; no stove, but a microwave and toaster oven, and a grill on the outdoor fire pit) and of course, pretty spotty wi-fi and cell phone connection. We appreciated the free long-distance calling on the landline, and for the most part, that we could almost completely disconnect from the world for a couple of days. We – and our Formosan Mountain Dog, Benny – also greatly appreciated that the cabin is dog-friendly. We came to Trinity County to get away from city life and hit the nearby hiking trails. We visited Whiskeytown Falls on the way to Douglas City, meandered some of the Weaver Basin Trails, and drove through the Trinity Alps, but we could've easily just spent more time sitting on the Adirondack chairs on the Miner's Landing at the cabin. From this little piece of heaven, we watched the olive green Trinity River rush by, as well as the many birds, butterflies, and other wildlife that call the area home. We cooked meals in the fire pit and sat by the glowing logs as night fell. On our last evening at the Miner's Cabin, we spied a majestic bald eagle perched in the treetops of a nearby pine (Fortunately, we had brought binoculars). A magical ending to a magical weekend."

  • OUTSTANDING Experience

"As a first time vacation home renter, I was pleasantly surprised by my amazing experience. The home owners, Nancy and Tom are outstanding. The house was more than able to accommodate the four generations (ages three to eighty) of my family that were in Graeagle / Blairsden for the first time. The location was perfect. During our long weekend, we were able to go to a festival in Graeagle, attend a wedding at “The Barn”, hike to Frazier Falls and hang out and spend family time playing games (many of which are graciously provided in the home.) I would highly recommend this property. Thanks Nancy and Tom --- OUTSTANDING"
