  • Beautiful, great view, private - would love to come back!!!

"My family of 6 and our 2 small dogs called this beautiful property home for 4 days between Christmas and New Years last month. The kitchen had everything you could think of to cook meals - we cooked all of our meals there and spent most of our time playing games and just being together. I just want to talk a little about the layout because it was hard for me to imagine before I got there and I think this may help as you plan your stay - especially if you have a bigger group. When you drive up, there is plenty of parking and the door with the code goes right into the downstairs game room with a pool table, fireplace, game table, tv and video games. We didn't spend much time down there because there wasn't a bathroom and also - stairs! Then, you go upstairs to the main level. To your immediate left is the master bedroom and bath (the bath has a convenient door leading to outside with a nice green grassy area where we would take our dogs out and not have to go downstairs to exit the house) and in front of the stair case is the guest bathroom and one private bedroom (this one has a ceiling fan which my oldest daughter enjoyed). Then to the right is the kitchen, dining room and family room (with big screen TV and fireplace)! This is where we spent most of our time. There are two sliding glass doors that lead out to a large patio with seating for 12 and a view of the lake! Off the family room is a stair case leading up the loft. In the pictures, I thought the loft was broken up into rooms - one with the 2 double beds and one with the futon (but it was basically one large loft - beautiful and open). My two sons took the two big beds and my youngest daughter (14) took the futon -- she would have liked a little more privacy and she also complained that as soon as we got up to start cooking breakfast she could hear everything! It didn't bother me though, just thought I'd mention it. There is also a full bath upstairs that the 3 kids used and liked that they didn't have to keep it picked up because I never went up there (except to help figure out who was sleeping where when we arrived)! The owners provided pellets for the stove in the family room and a few duraflame logs in the game room downstairs, but we didn't use them. The heater worked really well and the house was well insulated, so we didn't even run the heater much. The drive in to the property is beautiful and easy, no scary one way roads. Overall it was a great trip!"

  • A Special Little Gem west of Redding:

"Just as the photos convey this property truly is an intimate retreat in the countryside, and was exactly what my partner and I were looking for when planning a get-away to celebrate the new year. Its cozy, well-appointed craftsman-style interior was so comfy it was NOT difficult to procrastinate from our daily fly fishing excursions. (Let's have another cup of coffee next to the fire! Those trophy rainbows need their beauty sleep, afterall.) Because we were fishing the lower Sacramento River the Barnhouse was the perfect location; a scenic but short 12 mile drive to Redding, yet, nestled along the appropriately named Clear Creek. I beleive the Barnhouse is a perfect stay for creative types seeking solitude and inspiration, romantic couples, older couples, those in denial of or forever greiving the 2016 election cycle, well-behaved dogs (but ONLY if they have well-behaved masters), and all outdoor-enthusiasts unafraid of embracing their inner-Martha Stewart. Whether walking along the meandering road and creek, gazing out large picture windows at wildlife and pastures, lounging next to the handcrafted stone fireplace (with or without a Kindle or tablet), or simply enjoying the warmth of a glass of wine or the sun itself from the oversized decks, the Barnhouse at Stonewall Ranch is a special little gem. And its colorful and extremely thoughtful owners make the experience all the more worthwhile. Thank you, Denise. We'll be back in April. Liz and Joyce"

  • Exactly as described

"Stayed for one week and found the place exactly as described. It was easy to find even though arrived late at night in the rain, with good signage to the place, as it is close to a winery and river access point. Lizzie was responsive to my calls as I needed some instructions on using the cable TV. Caught some nice steelhead on a guided float trip through the Fly Shop in Redding. Tried wade fishing around the place, which is close to the river, but no luck there. The Trinity River fishing was unusually challenging this year, go figure....Steelhead! I would recommend this place to others."

  • Beautiful room, perfect stay! Will be back!

"The room was beautiful. It's a room tied to a house in the suburbs. Huge gorgeous bathroom and awesome bedroom setup! Perfect distance from everything you want to do in Redding! Will definitely be back!"
