  • Way to Relax and Restore

"This property was immediately refreshing and rejuvenating. The creek and woods surround the cabin home and are visible through crystal clear windows all around. Nearby is a small town and traveling 20 miles up the road is Lassen National Park with lakes and trails abounding. The creek is within feet of the deck and provides a bubbling delicious sound of refreshing clear water. All through the day, the light changes in the forest and on the water, reflecting the eddies of the stream. The home feels spacious and has all needed indoor amenities. The surrounding property has thoughtful outdoor amenities of fire pit, picnic table and creek side chairs. We would definitely love to return."

  • Fantastic place to stay -- LOVED IT!!!

"The Battle Creek Retreat was amazing - in looks, accommodations, and all of the things that Kathleen provided. The house and grounds were exactly as Kathleen described. Everything very clean and well-maintained. Beautiful setting, with the back sloping down to a small creek that had good running water even in the drought -- she provided a lovely set of chairs at the creek which was a pleasant and relaxing place. The house was immaculate and large enough (with 3 bedrooms) for several folks. The master bedroom has a gorgeous view of the woods. Kathleen had the house very very well-stocked - including all the bed linens, towels (kitchen and bath) and soaps you would need (including shampoo in the bathroom). The kitchen was stocked completely with condiments, pots, pans, microwave and a refrigerator with an ice maker. All used to our complete satisfaction since we cooked all of our meals there while we were there. And the best thing of all - she left us a really good bottle of Shasta Daisy wine -- pino noir -- we loved it. The location of the house is also good -- only about 14 miles from Lassen National Volcanic Park. The road to the park is in great condition with not that much traffic during the week. We had lots of opportunities for good hikes and star gazing in and around the park while we were there. And I think the price for the stay is extremely reasonable for the value that is provided. Overall, a very impressive vacation place. Even prior to our stay, Kathleen was helpful with all of my questions. She is a wonderful hostess and we would love to stay there again. Thanks Kathleen - for a fantastic vacation."

  • Nice, quiet place with everything you need

"It was a nice place, and the dogs and I really enjoyed being able to walk across the street and walk for miles on the forest service roads. They also liked cooling off in the stream out back afterward. Thanks!"

  • Wedding Retreat

"My husband and I were fortunate enough to stay at The Manton Lodge the week prior to our wedding and on our wedding night. It was a magical time for us, BBQing with friends and family, playing horse shoes with our nephews and exploring the woods around the property with each other. We also made frequent trips into "town," to wine taste and grab last minute items at the corner store. The house it's self was everything we needed, wonderful soaking tub, large kitchen and enough bedrooms to fit the whole gang. I plan to return here as often as possible."
