  • Major Wow of a Vacation!

"Major WOW of a vacation! We stayed for 6 nights, and would like to have stayed more if we had the time. My wife and two teen age boys shared the 500 acres with my brother and sister in law, plus our two German Short Haired Pointers and their four “ankle bitters” (Chihuahuas) as cow boy Bill called them . The property reminded me of how the Wild West probably was 100 years ago, but with plenty of rustic luxury. My boys Loved running wild in the woods with Buddy and Hazel, the two GSPs helping them scare up jack rabbits, ground squirrels and tree squirrels, while I attempted to hone my fly-fishing skills, and my wife and Bros. and Sis- in law lazed around the lawn with the ankle Biter-Chihuahuas to protect them. It was a doggy paradise as well as a perfectly relaxing, week -long get-a-way from the City/work rat race that is the Bay Area. During the day we took afternoon excursions now known as “escape the heat adventures” to various high country lakes. At night we grilled up very late dinners followed by campfires until the early morning hours, while gazing up at the limitless stars and famous Milky Way, never seen in town. Thanks Bill for an awesome vacation!"

  • Quiet, comfortable, close to town, yet in the woods!

"The guesthouse seems to be newly renovated with beautiful hardwood floors, oak moldings and plenty of room for two people. The bed area is not completely separate from the living room and kitchen, but was fine for us. There is a nice deck overlooking the property and a carport for our car. It was only a 15 minute walk to town. Sandi and John answered all of our questions and were helpful but gave us privacy. They live in the main house in front of the guesthouse. We enjoyed every minute and will return next time we want to go to Mt. Shasta."

  • Very good location. A Charming House

"The house is charming and it is very good location. We were given all amenities that anyone expects and we all enjoyed the stay. The only drawback is that the bathrooms doesn't have locks. We have to let everyone know that someone is in the bathroom so no one will enter."

  • Great Last Minute Trip

"Planned a last minute ski trip (the night before we planned to leave) and worried we would not find a rental quick enough for our party of 6. The owner/mgmt company responded quickly and we were in with no issues! The place was heated, cozy, and very clean (most important thing to me!) when we arrived. Wonderful communication! One car garage for the SUV and gear, if any. As you come into the house from the garage there is a basement area to put your shoes and any additional gear. The main house is upstairs with 3 bedroom/2 full baths. There is internet (necessity for our family). The living room/dining room is a nice area for playing games and socializing - no TV(s) upstairs in the main living areas. TV is in the basement room. Nice sized kitchen. We didn't find dishwasher detergent which was probably a simple oversight, but dish soap and paper towels were all there. There is a coffee pot/filters - Bring caffeinated coffee! I seem to forget these things when we rent cabins! Everything we needed was there. My 9 & 11 year old were excited for the bunk beds upstairs but then opted for the downstairs bedroom connected to a living room area with large couch & TV. The DVD player does not take Blu Ray disks but they do have a little collection of DVD's to choose from. The wall heater warmed the bedroom/living area quickly. There is a 1/2 bath in the basement along with a full-sized washer/dryer. It's probably not surprising but you need to keep showers VERY short, at least during cold weather...definitely cannot shower 4-6 people without staggering. The cabin uses well water - my husband could not get over how good it tasted and we have fabulous water at home. Takes about 20-25 mins to get to the ski resort. Town is a few miles away from the cabin, easy drive. There is a supermarket (Rays) which is open until 11pm (small selection of GF items) and a few other small markets. Berryvale Café was nice...a small grocery with organic & GF choices, and carries wonderful local bottled water. The café offers soups, coffees, salads, sandwiches, etc. There is a Burger King, KFC, Taco Bell, Subway if you want fast food. We managed to eat at Black Bear Diner which was a good choice for a party of 6. This is not a "luxury" home, it's an older place with older "stuff", and was exactly as advertised. Everything worked, everything was clean & we had tons of space. We were very happy and would certainly stay again."
