  • Relaxing Get-Away

"My husband and I enjoyed our stay at your cottage. It's very cute and comfortable. It was nice to have such a well equipped home, having everything we needed. We were a little bummed that there wasn't a fireplace or wood burning stove. Surprising for a mountain home, but I guess I missed that in the details. We really enjoyed sitting on the deck (in between the rain) and listening to Bailey Creek. The smell of the rain in the woods is amazing!! Thank you for the fresh baked bread! Really nice touch!"

  • Thanksgiving Getaway

"Our family spent Thanksgiving week at his beautiful cozy home. We had a wonderful relaxing week. The home is close to Lassen and local wineries. We visited Subway caves, Hat Creek, and a portion of Lassen. Most of the roads we closed beyond the visitor center due to snow. We had a couple of days of rain that turned to light snow which was a real treat and gave our get away that festive holiday feel. Michael was at the cabin to meet us and he had a warm fire going upon our arrival. The home was cozy and inviting in every way. The kitchen appliances made making meals so easy. I cooked a traditional Thanksgiving meal without any problems. The tableware and utinsels were stylish and plentiful making our Thanksgiving meal very special. We loved being able to hear the creek throughout the day and evening. It was very cold so we kept the fire in the fireplace going while we were inside the home. The upper floor was very warm, so we had to leave one of the windows in the bedroom cracked a bit to let in a little cool air. We were not able to use the outdoor grill or furniture due to rain but even without that, this place was so nice. We did however use the outdoor fire pit to make smores. We had Internet access and phone all of which worked very well and kept our teens and young adults happy in the evenings. Overall this was a perfect getaway location."

  • Convenient and quiet place, just the way we like

"We arrived late in the day and found the place very cosy and welcoming. Plenty of couches and sitting areas, great kitchen area with open space. The feeling of being in a log cabin was very pleasing. Showers, bathrooms, and other amenities, and the rest of the cabin were clean and pleasing. We recommend the cabin near Shingletown. Don"

  • Quietly prepare for the New Year, 2017

"Battle Creek Retreat was the perfect spot for my end of year quiet time away from the world. I loved the fires in the fire place and the snow that covered much of the grounds. I really prayed for snow and it snowed on New Year's day. It was so beautiful and refreshing. Driving was a little iffy without chains so remember to plan ahead if any chance of snow. The house is so well equipped that there was nothing extra I needed. I took my little dog and she loved romping in the snow too. My favorite room is the master bedroom with a perfectly lovely view of the back and side of the property with clear access to the sounds of the creek babbling. The bed was very comfortable and cozy as well. Kathy and John are the best! Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with me."
